What's best way to touch up the finish on an AR?

I've got a couple scratches/scrapes on the barrel and lower from "grounding" my firearm during 3-gun competition. What's the best way to touch up these little boogers? I've been using a black sharpie, but any oil or cleaners automatically strips it right back off. Looking for something a little more durable that won't look like a hack job.

I would think they would add "character", but only if it NOT an expensive "race gun" .....

I think it adds character as well, but that Birchwood Casey stuff works also. Might take a little work to blend the finish.

Birhwood Casey also makes a touch-up pen for AR's and it works well.

I usually drag mine down the driveway to "touch them up". That's what all the cool kids are doing.
