Bill HE4715 proposes that every single gun in Illinois be registered. It also says that you must provide a (highly taxed no doubt) state certificate showing your gun is registered before you can buy ammo for it. If they pass this thing people will be coming to indiana to buy ammo. How nice. Another fine example why I don't like that state.

This bill has been written by Kelly Cassidy AKA "Resident Moonbat" and it will go no where. She is the Illinois House drama queen known for bursting into tears on the house floor a couple years ago when the gay marriage bill failed. Ignore the bill. Jim.

Wait.... in my minds eye of the nation, Indiana resides between two black holes. only options are Michigan to the north and Kentucky to the south...... Well, at least in my travel books. Illinois is dead to me, and why would I want to get near Ohio?

Remember the outrage a few years ago when a Kentucky lawmaker wrote a bill proposing the state purchase a surplus submarine, to sink Indiana casino riverboats on the Ohio River?

Politicians can introduce any proposal they want - it is their prerogative. The odds of it coming close to getting out of committee, let alone signed into law, vary wildly.

they wont be able to buy it here either(without that info) indiana dealers have to follow illinois law, have you ever bought ammo at walmart?, at every walmart in the country they ask for id, because of states like illinois, that require the foid card, they have a 24hr waiting period, if a dealer in indiana sells a long gun to a illinois resident, they have to do the nics check, then wait 24 hours to transfer the rifle or shotgun, it's illinois law!

I've never been asked for ID at my local Walmarts when buying ammo.

Same at Cabela's. You take the ammo you want to buy off the shelf and carry it to the cashier. The only question she has ever asked me is "do you have the correct ammo because there are no returns on ammo?".

This comment made me laugh out loud. On a more serious note, people will continue to submit bills like this until they are passed. I still can't believe Indiana is next to Illinois.

I see nothing wrong with registration, what could go wrong. :dunno:

Same online for the most part. Only aimsurplus has ever asked me for ID for an ammo purchase. Midway, Selway Armory, J&G have never asked me for anything other than money and a shipping address.

I wonder if you put in an Illinois address if you would get asked for a FOID.

Boom! Good call, I entered a legit Springfield, Illinois, shipping address at Midway and got:

"We're sorry, but City or State law prohibits us from sending item(s) in your cart to the address you have specified.

Your city or state law prohibits sending ammunition to your shipping address. If you are an Illinois resident, we accept FOID cards. For details, see What are State Firearm ID (FOID) Cards?. MidwayUSA does not sell ammunition to anyone under 21 years of age."

And that's why you will never see a polling place in an establishment that sells ammo...the irony would be too rich.
