You should read the INGO FAQ (linked in my sig). Oh, and non-secure areas of airports are fine, as are banks, and many government buildings. "Obvious" isn't always "correct"... ;)

I realized something the other day. If you go to the court house, their sign states - firearms prohibited by law, but if you go to the local hospital, their sign states - firearms phohibited.

    Is "by law" the kicker?

In Indiana, the signs themselves have no force of law behind them. The sign can say anything it wants but unless there's a law on the books that's not pre-empted by state statute, then it's meaningless.

I'm not sure what you mean by "kicker", except that in the city you were in, there is probably a local statute prohibiting carry in the courthouse.

I understand that signs have no force behind them. Yes, there is a local statute enforcing no carry in the courthouse, and the sign states "by law". I'm just wondering if that's a subtle clue that it's actually illegal to carry there. In other words, I'm wondering if the local hospital doesn't have "by law" on their sign because they know that they have no law to back them up.

I still get a kick out of M&I bank. The door is posted with a no sunglasses, no hooded sweatshirts. Doesn't say anything about firearms though.

You know, you should go into that bank shirtless, no sunglasses, and a gun obviously exposed on your belt. Ask for help reading something since you left your prescrition sunglasses in the car and you didn't bring your clear glasses. If they complain about being shirtless, just tell then they have a no hoodies sign, not a no shirt/shoe/service sign.

I think you can not carry in Illinois and Maryland But all other states have a reciprocal agreement with Indiana. At least that's the info I found.
