I have a Springfield RO Elite in 9mm and it is a very nice shooting gun. I would look at this as you do your search. Purchased mine at Point Blank in Carmel.

If you are gonna spend $1100 - $1800 dinero...I'd look solely at DWesson @ Indiana Gun Club.

Personally I'd look at .45ACP

I plan on doing just that once my new to me CZ Shadow 2 is in my possession, that is.

I'd say for the money, get a Ruger. They're solid, and affordable and since it is a 1911, you can have it modified after you receive it.
