I have never trained enough with a revolver to be proficient in it use.
So for my self the choice is easy... a pistol will always perfered.

That is of course if a rifle isn't handy.

And really I can not see many circumstances where a revolver would hold enough advantages to chose it over a pistol.

I agree, but I can think of two advantages a revolver has over a semi-auto.

    1) In situations where the muzzle comes into contact with the target, a revolver can't be pushed out-of-battery.

    2) In situations where you might want to retain your fired casings a revolver won't eject them. (you know. . . . reloaders. . . not murderers. . . .)

Revolvers are much more reliable, but have shorter barrels for similar sized form-factors...which means less FPS for similar cartridges...which can be counteracted by using larger cartridges because the cartridges aren't constrained by the grip's size...

    So the answer is "yes"...

I have had more failures with revolvers than my Glock 19 and Glock 26....Zero failure with the glock and more than double the chances to hit --10-12 with ext mag on g26 and 15-30 shots with the 19...would like to have a good snubbie smith and wesson though...it would most likely do the job

I think the midsize (k-frame) S&W revolvers are probably the best firearm in the world for home defense. Point and shoot, that's all ya gotta do. Having said that, I own (and carry) a G23, so what do I know.
