I feel like fixing up my carry gun with a bobtail but my main EDC is a lightweight Colt commander. Sitting in my safe is a Kimber Crimson Carry Pro

I really like both guns and I am not sure I want to mod the colt or not. I doubt it means much but it has the 100 year roll mark on the slide
I see no problem with doing the Colt. i just cant decide. Other choice is to do the both :)
What do you all think? Both have alloy frames

Colt. (This is a stock photo, my frame is actually the same color as the controls in this pic)

The Kimber. I just like that light/dark combo.

Do you lose the option for a lanyard when you cut the edge off? Just thought of this.

Which ever one I Bobtail will become my carry gun ...... until I find something else. I am leaning toward doing the Kimber and leaving the colt as is because it is a 100 anniversary Colt. But I didn't know if that was just me or if that really mattered.

I would think the lanyard would no longer be an option but I never would use one anyway so that doesn't make a difference to me.

I also think there is enough meat on the CT grips that I can modify and still use them with the bobtail which would be unique

    Bob'em both :rockwoot:

I'm not a 1911 guy so I have no idea of the impact to value, but I love the look and utility of a good bob tail job.

Modifying the CT grips is unique and cheaper then buying a set of Bobtailed CT grips. Leave the pony alone since its a 100 anniversary and modify the Kimber.

Neither. Get your body shop squared away and then do some work for me!:)

    Just kidding....I couldn't resist.

I would BOB the Kimber. Good way to get rid of the plastic MSH!

I am a Colt 1911 fan, so IMO, leave the Colt as is. Bobtail the Kimber. My :twocents:.
Truth be told... They're your guns. Follow your gut instinct on this decision.:D
