The richest age demographic IS old people, was my point.

I know, but not all old people are rich.

The demographic wouldn't be nearly as "rich" without their guaranteed pensions and government money, that they steal from younger generations.

They did an excellent job voting to take from the young and give to old, firmly entrenching it in the American psyche along the way.

Between the New Deal, Great Society, and the latest debacles, they carry the overwhelming burden of blame for the way things are.

Government programs explain some of it, but that's one of my biggest beefs with SS, after you get past the program itself. The poorest workers in the country don't pay income taxes, but they do pay payroll taxes, which then immediately get put into the pockets of the wealthiest people in the country. SS is a straight payment from the poor to the rich.

I say the rich, because predominantly the people in teh government are rich. the rich people use their money as a form of leverage over the government as well, so even if they aren't directly in the government, their use of their money is in control of teh government.

look at the last presidents. how many of the last 15 were NOT independently wealthy prior to being in office?

aside from legacy congressman Andre Carson, how many of our Congressmen were not independently wealthy prior to office?

of our state representatives, how many were not wealthy prior to office?

I'm not trying to advocate for communism, but money is the root of a lot of problems, and with a smaller government that needed less money to operate, there would be lower taxes and people would be able to keep more of their money. Smaller gov't = less trouble for all.

Did we invent this? Is this something new? Are we more immoral, irresponsible, and ignorant than we used to be?

As a majority yes these problems are more prevalent than before. Since the 60s these traits have become more prevalent.

We didn't invent it, it has been the down fall of every great civilization throughout history.

I promise you, I can look through any period of history, at any time and provide you with all the examples you can stand of all of these traits.

These traits always exist. It's the test of a system how well it takes these human failings into account.

The question I would ask Sigblaster is who he thinks is causing the most problems because the question is phrased for only two answers which gives a clue to Sig's thinking on this issue. In other words, this is a leading question and will lead to Sig's pre-drawn conclusion as that conclusion can be one of the two answers.
