I will be Friday. I plan on buying a good back pack and stuffing it with all the name brand supplies necessary for school. It's all or nothing with me. I don't do generic items, especially when I know how hard kids are on their stuff.

I will be donating ZIP. I hope the Public School system continues to fail, and push out more and more dumb idiots, I love this socialist system of indoctrination.

Obviously it should be appearant, that I do not support PS.

I'll continue with my disdain of supporting this system.

i donate my time to the kids. their parents (not true) our gov't. doesnt pay me enough to donate supplies. i make it up to them by helping them with their homework, giving them a ride to and from school, being an officer of peace, give first aid, and give guided tours on the way to and from school of the same streets we always go up and down while singing the wheels on the bus go round and round...

think this is made up? think again! (this year might be different... prob wont sing to the kids anymore since i have all new kids on both routes :(

I personally don't see where helping out a less fortunate child hurts anything. If poor people would learn how to use Birth Control, Society wouldn't have problems like this. We shouldn't punish a child because of their parent's stupidity.

Won't donate to Shop With A Cop though. Not giving any of those Parasites my money. Lets not forget about the Fraternal Order of Police asking for money from me. Told them where to go and they haven't called since.

It is wrong to punish a child for the parental mistake, but it's not my problem.

Most of those 'unfortunate' kids dont even like school, and most likely wont benefit from it.

Call it, Survival of the fittest. My Children will or atleast should get ahead in life, when the less fortunate fall.

This is not to say I wont help people, however I am picky about my support.

The city gives the Pacers, aka over paid thugs making totally way to much money while holding the city hostage, $33 MILLION dollars to stay 3 more years while the Libraries and Schools are going belly up. We, the tax payers, are still paying for the facilities these pro teams play in and are getting nothing in return. The players/owners are making millions and crying for more. Sorry but I can barely pay my own bills let alone give to things that should have been covered with my tax dollars. Everytime I get gasoline I see a new Lottery game, weren't these revenues supposed to help fund schools and repair roads? Schools are terrible and roads suck! They make millions off the Lottery in this state, Where is the money? Sorry, mini rant over...

Indy has the worst roads of any city I've ever been to, ever.

If you aren't then someone else is, or you have someone who works for the DOT living near you. ;)

Dear internet tough guys & Scrooges,

If you toss a few dollars worth of school supplies to those who need it, good for you. If you do it selfishly, good for you. Your dollars spent on school supplies for those less fortunate are saving our country money by preventing another worthless government program intervening in the public sector of charity.

If the public gives until there is no need, there is no room for bureaucracy. Forced giving by my tax dollars really isn't charitable. Donations are.

We donate school supplies because companies like Target, Walmart, and even Manard's will partner with those collecting donations to give away in their school district/township.

Wow, so you would rather perpetuate the big govt. system of welfare rather than participate in charity where it should be, the private sector. So Mr. Big Bad Aryan brotherhood light, must have never, ever needed a hand from anyone else in his life, great you get a gold star for the day. What, didn't Oden, Thor, Gandolph the Gray, or whoever it is that shaped your moral compass ever teach charity? Donating a backpack full of school supplies is a very easy thing to do to make a huge difference for a little kid. A 6 year old kid didn't force the PS system on you or talk his parents into not looking for a job, and I'm pretty sure he didn't fill out their welfare forms.:twocents:

To the OP, yes, I will be donating school supplies.

Just got back from Wal-Mart. I've allowed $75 for supplies and it looks to cover everything quite nicely. One of the Fast Food Joints here is collecting school supplies. I think it's Burger King but I'm not sure. I think one of the girls across the street at the Bank will gladly take the supplies to where they need to be.

    Thank you sir!
My wife is a teacher, and we wish more people were like you.
I'm not sure if the $$$ we budget each year for her classroom counts as welfare for the masses  But we do it to make sure her kids can do their work, and graduate.
