Both are in season here. The wild plum is new to us,we found quite a few trees in one area though.Picking them is not at option so I went the bear route and shook the trees(the largest are around 6 inches in diameter). They are the size of large cherries, but have the texture and taste of a plum.We gathered around 5 gallons of currants and 3 gallons of wild plums. The batch from this morning is already in preserves or jelly form :)

We had a wild plum tree on the property we had in Brown County when I was a kid, but they were bigger than that, almost as big as my intentional peaches. We never did anything with them, though. My mom has the skills, just not the spirit for it. She kinda got over that during the depression.
