Through a series of transactions and inheriting a gun safe I believe I am now in possesion of a winchester model 1897 12g shotgun. Seems to just be the reciever, barrel, and tube. Missing any internals for the reciever including trigger and missing buttstock. Serial number puts it at a 1910 production. Would it be worth finding the parts to restore it? The parts seem costly for all it needs compared to the price of a used one on gunbroker. It holds no sentimental value for me. It was in the safe when my great uncle purchased it from a friend. Once my uncle passed my aunt gave me the safe. The shotty was still in there. From my searches it is a model 1897, but I could be wrong.

If it's a solid frame (Vs takedown...) - then it's definitely got more worth than a takedown.

The folks that'd like to convert one into a trench gun clone would LOVE to have a solid frame... Ahem.

No sentimental value, probably a bit of a project .....for what?
What'll I list it for? No idea. Lol. I was thinking about listing it for trade. Either for ammo or for P320 parts. As I am building 2 manual safety 80% fcu's right now.

What choke is the barrel and has it been cut down?

It is a takedown model and the bolt on those '97 have a tension screw on them that can be touchy to adjust, especially on a different gun.

You will find interest on parts.
