    I looked at the tagged list but not sure who in Indiana works on the '97. I have a takedown model & want to have the 30' barrel removed and a trench gun barrel put on it.

    I don't know of anyone in Indiana who specializes in these. Chuck's Gun Repair could probably get the job done though. If you want a specialist in 97s, I think you'll have to go out of state.

    Are you wanting to save the 30" barrel? If not, why not have it cut down? That's what I had done with mine. $.02

    You can have the barrel cut down and a trench gun bayonet lug/heat shield is available from Numrich.:)

    Thanks guys. I would like to keep the original barrel to either sell off seperate or w/ the gun if I ever do. I bought a repo trench barrel cheap so I don't have to worry about cutting the 3 grooves for the heat shield like I would if I cut the barrel. I have all the other parts to make it into a trench gun, just need to switch barrels. I was hoping to do it myself but after doing some research I found it's a lot more work swapping barrels than I thought.
