I've got it in my head that I want to buy a Winchester Model 70, in 30-06. Looking for a target practice gun that can shoot 100-1000 yards. But I don't have easy access to a range, so am only planning on using it maybe 3-4 times a year. Which is why I'm looking for a 30-06, and not a .22. I just feel like if I'm only going to be shooting that much, might as well shoot something with a little more power.
Looking for a bolt action. Something that will slow me down, and won't burn through round after round like a semi-auto would. And I would consider something similar.
Depending on what it is, I'd be willing to offer up to $900 for a Model 70. Ideally, I'd love to get one with a wood stock. Not a huge fan of polymer. Mainly because this is a gun I want to keep and take care of. I feel real wood will hold its value more.
