With AR-15 dropping in price, is there a reason to buy a mini-14 ?

The reason I bought my two mini-14 was price, I paid $275 for the blue one with a folding stock & it had a DAT MIL-BRAKE The STAINLESS STEEL one was new in box RANCH model with rings for $400. At that time AR-15 where going for crazy money during the 1994 gun ban
