I have heard the ak is hard for women to shoot. Is that true? I have an ar 15 currently, I was thinking of switching to the ak but I don't want to have one ak for me and an ar15 for my wife.

Wait, what? I was just asking why someone would think that a woman couldn't shoot an AK. It never occurred to me that any gun would be hard for any woman to shoot.

From whom? That seems like a silly statement. I'm not trying to be overly critical, but it's not like hefting a m249 around. Just trying to figure out the origin of such a statement.

    Is that true?
Absolutely not. In fact, I think it's probably easier from a fit and weight standpoint, unless the AR variant is a lightweight shorter barreled modeled. The stocks on AKs have always seemed to fit me better than fix-stocked ARs.

If the AK is a 7.62 model it might not be comfortable. And I think women might be more prone to finding the trigger slap annoying. I know one of ours is downright painful after enough rounds. But hard to shoot? :dunno:

Why not? Just curious. Because the correct answer is always "both." :D

I don't think either is more difficult to shoot. There is a VERY SLIGHT difference in weight and recoil (according to my wife) and she prefers the AR's.:twocents:

My daughter is 19, 5ft and 110lbs and the only complaint I ever hear from her when she is shooting one of my ak's is " why do the mags go empty so fast".

Well, I have an AK47, if you would like to try and shoot it. I have had several women that liked shooting it as well. Depends on how you are able to handle rifle recoil is all. As previously stated, there are plenty of women in all sorts of countries that are shooting those rifles with no problems.

I do not think the AK-47 is hard to shoot, but I do prefer shooting the AR-15. The AK was a bit heavier than the AR but that is not why I prefer the AR. I prefer the AR because my boyfriend decked his out and it has cooler features on it! It really depends on what your wife likes to shoot. What is wrong with having one of each? I bet your wife would like that ;)

Both are light to shoot compared to my Remington 700 308. I don't understand why some men think women have a hard time shooting guns?
