INGO Members: He's simply a gentleman who locked himself out on a cold day, nothing suspicious. Clearly the police have no reason to engage him in conversation, and to do so would be a blatant 4th amendment violation.

Rest of the planet: That guy looks like he's breaking into that house!

Are you suggesting she had a crowbar and was looking in windows now?

This country got along quite well without police departments for quite a long time. I'm sure we'd work it out just fine, if we needed to.

I keep saying had law enforcement over to the highest elected official in the county (the local Sheriff) and privatize the police force. Those who feel they need extra protection and want to pay for it have it those who want to either use the sheriff's department or defend themselves do that. No fuss, no muss, no political appointees (police chiefs) who are beholden to the mayor instead of the people.

There is a serious problem with your apparent point: This man is obviously breaking into a house, indicating a burglary in progress. Had he been in his walking/jogging outfit walking/running/jogging down the street and happened to be in front of the house in question, it would be an entirely different story, much like a woman walking/running/jogging down the street near a vehicle which raises questions in a policeman's mind. In the case at issue, it would have been different had she been seen doing something indicating a connection with the vehicle in question, which apparently did not happen.

Any case studies or examples where this has worked? Corporatization of the cops sends a chill down my spine.

There was a fire a few years back where the subscription-paid fire department refused to assist in a house fire because the guy didn't pay his dues. So…now when you call 911 Inc., it will be a 900 number and they'll send you to accounting first when a break-in occurs?

    Bad bad idea methinks.

Why does that burglar appear to be using a crow bar to break into what looks like an unlocked door? There is no damage to the door.........and it looks like he just picked up that crowbar from Home Depot; not a scratch on it. Could it be that he's new in the burglar business and this is his first "job"?
