In light of the Alabama school football game shooting and the Texas driver shooting, it is even MORE important to contact your federal legislators AND the White House. It only takes a few minutes, so don't be like the Britons and Australians and all the others who didn't 'push back' until the bans had already passed....
I'd emphasize these things:
1. That the wrong answer (useless, symbolic, and potentially dangerous 'gun laws') is STILL the wrong answer, no matter how many times the question is asked, nor how emotionally.
2. An angry mob chanting ' do something' doesn't change te FACT that 'background checks' are useless, waste law enforcement resources, and are misused to create a dangerous 'gun registry' that is the gateway to genocide - a chain of events we saw many times throughout the 20th century. The Democrats have already indicated they want to violate the Constitution and confiscate nearly all modern firearms, so giving them such a list is foolish.
3. 'Red flag laws' are not needed to detain and disarm truly dangerous individuals; existing law covers that. Any changes must be made with the knowledge that most 'hate crimes' have turned out to be hoaxes done for vengeance or political gain, and there are many individuals who would misuse such laws, with no public benefit. Severe penalties for false reporting need to be in place, as well as prompt, cost-free, resolution for those harmed without due process.
4. If there is a fire, and water is either unavailable, or has been ineffective, and you are standing next to a bucket of gasoline, someone shouting at you that you must 'do something' is STILL not an excuse to throw that gasoline on the fire. Even though 'gun control' laws sound good to the uninformed, they are just like gasoline to the fire....bad results, despite the best of intentions.
5. Perhaps also remind them that unlike what political scientist and criminologist Joy Reid says, it is NOT a choice between 'the safety of our kids versus the convenience of sportsmen'.... Genocide resulted in an average DAILY death toll of around one thousand children throughout the entire 20th century, in those nation's with 'progressive' gun control; in other words 'easy access' to guns may allow criminals to kill (although there is no evidence they fail to kill when gun laws are strict), but that same 'easy access' may save hundreds upon hundreds of children's lives for every one murdered. Math - like history - is important; learn why it matters.
HERE is where you can find your legislature contact information - https://gunownersaction.org/legislator-lookup/
After you enter your zip code, the page will list your legislators.
On the far right the black button says 'contact', but just to the left are the Twitter and Facebook logos - by them is a 'globe' and that is the link to where you can email them.
All the nation's that have lost their gun rights tell us "don't be apathetic...!" Have YOU written your representatives and the president...? Repeatedly....?
If not, WHY not....??
