XD9 sight change

Need help with changing out XD9 sights.. I can't get the factory sights out of the dove tails no matter how hard I hit them.. Springfield says" they use the hammer and punch method to change sights.. Woman who answered my call said if she can do it I should be able to also do it. Well I guess I'm a wimp 'cause I can't move the suckers. Any help would be appreciated. Gunsmiths, Ideas,......
