    I have various versions of both but if I had to pick ONE I'd go with the M1A for the following reasons;

    Magazine fed
    Cheaper ammo
    Less ammo sensitive
    More options available for it
    Easier to mount optics if needed
    Just all around bad ass! :twocents:

    Which would you choose an why? Assume price is not the deciding factor. I am leaning toward the Garand for its history...thoughts?

    M14, cuz it's full auto.

    You said price is not the deciding factor. :ar15:

    OK, even if you meant the M1A, I'd go with the M1A. I love history, but I love to shoot more.

    Ya I commented almost a yr. ago....wonder what the OP decided on and got?

    Maybe he bought one but can't find any ammo lol.

    DragonGunner and Saints : Have you guys been dinking with your M1A?
    I put a SEI brake on my Scout not long ago and that's about all I've done.

    BTW DragonGunner I finally got those parts organized. Well except for a SAW can of stuff I found hiding behind 4 cases of Viennas.

    My M14A is the same, shooting the tracers last summer down to 740 yds is really fun, espicially when they hit steel....if we can't find ammo its cause you got it all hoarded....when you going to get that ammo depot organized...LOL wish i had bought more of the cheap but good shooting MEN 7.62 mm......didn't realize they were going to run out of it....but I do have over 800 rounds of it so I'll be ok for awhile....if I run out I bet I know whose got several skids of it....finding your hiding place is the hard part....LOl

    <head scratching>: Hmmm, didn't realize there was a statute of limitation on a member's question, especially those where the originator never responded with the decision they made, or didn't make.

    PTR91 GI... Cheaper than both the M1A or M1 Garand you can use your left over money to buy heaper mags and more ammo. Plus the PTR91 will eat just about any ammo you can feed it.

    Wrong, I had 2 PTRs and both were ammo sensitive. My SAR8(Greek) would eat anything. I still have 2 M1As and couldn't be happier.
