    That is a great choice. You will have to look a bit to find one for $500 though. If I was going with a non-1911 .45 auto that would be high on my list.

    For that price I could get a Marlin 1894 in 45LC and carry it like Longmire. Then just keep the old Remington R1 1911 in belt as back-up. I know, not what the OP had in mind, but it seems like a good plan nonetheless. :D
