hard to tell what that dog may be mixed with...kinda has the build of GS with them long legs and all.
as far as the pic of maxx...hes a nut job! funniest dog Ive ever owned and smart as could be. I need to get some video of him and his tricks. if the boston and him are together you can look at maxx and say "rodeo maxx!" and he will jump on the other dogs back and wrap his front legs around the other dogs neck..funny a chit! and if you say "mop the floor maxx" he will go to one end of the room, take off running, put all 4 out and slide on his belly across the floor. have no clue where he picked this stuff up. he was adobted by a local nursing home but they found him a bit to hyper around the old folks so we got him. he's a riot.

Wow he sounds like a hoot! I love dogs like that; sounds like he has a great personality. Yeah if you look at Harley in the face maybe it is German Shepard mix by the shape of her head. I thought maybe Great dane or a bigger breed because her paws are so huge but was doubtful at the same time.

:): he's got that "ummm nummy" look on his face in that first pic. neat pup!

Thanks, he is so damn smart that it's not even funny. Was born Jan 27, had him since about April ~25th. I have since then taught him sit, stay, lay, speak, whisper, roll over, and the latest is over (jump over things). ALL OF THESE THINGS CAN BE EITHER SAID OR SIMPLE HAND COMMANDS. To me that is impressive, also he is pretty much house trained, goes to the door or either sits in front of you and barks. I have been working on a type of sic/intimdate state of command. He clears the house if he hears a noise, but not unless I give him the command or if he hears it more than once he will not stay back.

I really want to pull him away from everyone to get him to be more territorial but don't want it to go to far. He is still young, but will sleep at my feet all day even after a nights full of sleep.

you wont have to do much to make him territorial as hes a dog..dogs are very territorial, its his home he will protect it and his masters if need be. the worst thing anyone can do is train a dog to attack or even to be intimidating. let him bark at folks who come to the door and train him to "allow" people in if you invite them in. my dogs will go nuts at someone at the door but will relax and go lay down as soon as I say "come in". all I want my dogs to do is alert me to someones presence. but its your pup and you can train him as you see fit:)

I see where I may have spelled more than I meant there.

I just want him to put his foot down a bit more. He does bark when someone is at the door but isn't a fierce fella quite yet. I'm not looking for a super aggresive dog but rather a stern "Your not coming in till I say so". If someone is in the house that I or my fiance has let in I don't want the "intruder" to leave without a piece of something missing. Hopefully, that explains my initial post a bit better.

I'm sure you have seen the K9's intimidating stance, "If you let me go, I'll get him" I want to have control over this action/emotion however. And make sure it is nothing more than a simple command like sit, stay or lay.

Fur tubes creep me out...My buddy had one and every time he'd let it out it crawl under the couch and nip at my ankles...Seeing how I hate creatures with small teeth, it would drive me crazy.

From my experience with Boxers(quite possibly the sweetest breed of dog), he may just never get that fierce or protective of intruders(just his family). I have several buddies with Boxers and also (basically) owned a boxer for awhile and they all either greet the stranger at the door with a tail wag or go run and hide if the person scares them.

Several years back my uncle had to temporarily move to Florida, so I house sat for him for several months. The day he was leaving I went over there in advance to make sure his boxer wasn't going to try to tear my arm off when I walked in...

I walked up to the door to see the biggest, meanest looking Boxer I've ever seen. I told my uncle to walk around to the side of the house where doggy couldn't see him and I slammed the door open and growled...That big sissy couldn't have ran away from me fast enough.

Anyway, I guess it just isn't in most Boxer's predisposition to be protectors of the home. I currently know and come in contact with at least 6 adult Boxers on a regular basis and my GSD puppy has been more territorial and protective than all of them since he's been ~3 months old.
