YUGO SKS Cleaning Rod

Here is what I am trying to figure out. The Yugo SKS I purchased did not have a cleaning rod with it. I found one on eBay and received it today. The rod measures 17" overall. Too long for the Yugo SKS. I have looked at other listings for the Yugo and they state 15.75" length. That is still .25" too long by my calculation. The proper length should be just a hair under 15.5". Could someone with a Yugo SKS w/grenade launcher please measure the rod on their rifle and let me know the length?

cleaning rod vs. bayonet

Just went thru this last week. Had to trim a 1/8 inch off of mine to get it to work. Probably could have gotten away with trimming only 1/16. Either way it fits fine. Hope this helps.

I think I will pop the 17" in in the lathe and turn down the threaded end further up the shaft of the threads, cut off the excess, re thread with a 4mm die. Not that much of a job.
