Theres a huge difference in your scenario and manatee's! Iirc, manatee was referring to someone simply following him.

My post was a comment on the 21 ft rule. That rule is what I use for boundary's to my personal defense zone when spidy sense goes full tingle. It is a mere 6 or 7 paces.
Please do not put it in the context that I am agreeing/disputing or just interfering.

Dirt: Looks like you have way too much time on your hands.

If you were confronted by a bad guy with a gun, you wouldn't shoot first?

Hmmm. Are you Buddhist or Quaker?

What are you doing on this site?

I guess I'm looking at it from the other side. If some civilian Barney Fife starts stalking me and gets out of his car, approaches me....it certainly looks like the answer is to put a bullet in him before he has a chance to put a bullet in you.

Of course, that's Florida. The land where Casey Anthony can kill her unwanted child and Rush gets a slap on the hand for running dope.

From the information I have obtained - granted any and all information, any and all of us have, may be in error - T. Martin attacked Zimmerman! As a civilian working in a Neighborhood Watch, I would have probably done the same as he did - that is follow Martin. The information indicates that Z was doing only ONE thing - trying to make his neighborhood safe from Thugs, and prevent thefts and break in's. It is quite clear to me that Martin was a RACIST, he had no reason (unless he actually on a nefarious mission) not to stop and explain his presence in the area at that time, or to call Zimmerman a "Cracker".

I certainly wouldn't have felt put upon by being asked by a neighborhood watch person (Black - White or Red) to explain my presence. The information that Martin was on top of Zimmerman - per info from the trial, his back was wet and the back of his head injured. When this happened I would have also shot the attacker.

Don't think I am Barney Fife but I would have done the same thing he did. The Jury certainly agreed with his actions. By the way when OJ was acquitted for the murder of his wife (difference being Black man killing vs Black man being killed) there was certainly no riots or even protests. Why should there be now, if we believe in our justice system?

And, if I was followed/stalked in my neighborhood, you can bet I would be prepared to respond to a provocation. If you wouldn't, you're either misguided or on the wrong website.
Wow, you sure don't seem like a normal individual to me. My response to that action (I don't consider someone behind me "a provocation"), would be to confront the person (if I really believed he/she was following me) with spoken questions - might be a person that thinks he knows me or a cop, When he ID's himself as neighborhood watch, I would identify myself and thank him for his service. Your statements indicates you would respond with violence - hope I am never behind you like that - I might be on trial later!

Hold on, when did the "gun" come into this. Or a known "bad guy".
I thought you said anyone following you would be fair game to shoot?

Please be reasonable. If you guys are that anal and want to pick fly specks out of pepper, be my guest.

Bad guy...known bad guy. How do you know? I don't know any bad guys. But, if I'm walking and the dark and being followed and someone gets out of a car in the dark and approaches me without identifying himself...and more specifically, without identifying himself as a LEO or Federal agent, I am going to be very attuned to the threat, and I will tell him to stop where he is. If he proceeds in that circumstance....well....

Again, if you guys want to pick apart scenarios, take a training course. The instructors will be more than happy to assist you with your concerns.

IF it ever comes to reality in my case, my training and practice will be my guide.

Actually, most of you guys would run or freeze.

    Take a training course.

    I'm done with this silliness.

This discussion left any pretense of being based on the Zimmerman case long ago.

Agreed. Has anyone heard all the info that is surfacing now that the trial is over. Good/bad or indifferent it paints a totally different picture of our young angelic "If I had a son" wanna be thug.
Evidence right from his girls mouth that he doubled back to "WHOOP A$$" because he thought "Z" was a gay stalker. That puts "T" in the hate crime category in my mind.

What bothers me is that these people don't care that Martin was assaulting him. They seriously think that Zimmerman questioning him and "profiling" him (despite him not being sure of his race and having substantiated reasons for suspicion) was justification for Martin assaulting him. Hence it was Zimmerman at fault, NOT the person who initiated the physical attack.

So (assuming his story is true), Zimmerman was guilty of being nosy and rude, and apparently that was a legit reason to beat him. Do these people realize there are millions of jerks out there who do much worse than ask what you are doing in their neighborhood?

    Just around the corner.
Self protection isn't something granted by Emperor Obama.
It's a natural right and is the most pervasive instinct that ANY animal has.
The Socialist/Liberal/Scum suckers are trying to turn us into mindless victims so that their criminal element voting base will have an easier time taking our hard earned goods.
This is the best statement I have read in a long time.

Your comments are so true, and the media analysis is driving me nuts!

    1. Why isn't anyone in the media talking about the 2 to 4 minute gap - where TM could have run home and avoided this whole thing. He could have simply left and all would be OK. TM decision to Whoop### was a bad decision.
    2. Why isn't anyone in the media talking about the drug test results on TM and there were traces of drugs in his system that night?
    3. Why isn't anyone in the media talking about TM bragging about being a fighter and a "gangsta" on his text messages?
    4. Why isn't anyone in the media talking about TM texting others in the past about wanting to get ingredients to make the drug drink "Lean"?
    5. Why isn't anyone in the media talking about the possibility that the Arizona drink and Skittles are part of making Lean?

And what other information is out there that we may or may not know about... ?

    Why?
Because that's all just part of being an innocent teenager. Zimmerman should have factored in that all teanagers will react violently to someone "profiling" them.
