    Fort Worth police officer shooting

Ok, I hear the officer who shot the woman resigned rather than being fired. My question, Who sends a swat team to do a wellness check? Does that seem weird to anyone else? I know we do not know the 'rest of the story,' but that just does not seem right.

While I know nothing about this shooting, I guess it depends on how the call came in as to who they sent to do a "wellness check".

It wasn't a SWAT raid. Neighbor saw the front door hanging open and thought there might be a burglary in progress. Single officer responded and was poking around the back of the house with his flashlight. He saw the victim (comfortable calling them a victim, at this point) through the window, drew, and snapped off a single round, killing them. He barely got through "lemmeseeyourhands" before firing. Video was released almost immediately and the mayor basically called a press conference and said "bring me this officer's head". He resigned and murder charges were filed the next day.

A firearm was found inside the home, but at this time it doesn't appear to have been relevant to the shooting. My take on the video is that it almost looked like an ND, he jerked the trigger and seemed surprised at the shot. Absent any unexpected new information, it looks indefensible. He was only on the force less than two years.

Report says 2 officers responded and started checking the outer perimeter.
Officer that shot didnt identify himself as a cop. Also said they parked around the corner. Im not a cop so to my civilian ears, this sounds like they were treating this as a burglary in progress rather than a welfare check. Is that right?
If you are poking around my yard or home with a weapon out I sure as **** hope if you're a cop that you identify yourself as such or in the split second before i send you to your maker I see your badge.
I do not want to shoot no cops. We dont need blue on blue.
I have no problem seeing criminals get ventilated. Cops or innocent people getting it, makes me sad. But, yep i put a but. Just like they want to go home safe, my number 1 priority is mine and my families safety at home period.

Heard on the local news report that the nephew stated his aunt heard a noise in the backyard at which point she took her gun out but there was no indication the officer properly identified himself as such before the fatal shot was fired through the window.
