Anyone in the bloomington area notice all the ads lately that are of a woman democratic candidate that makes her look ...... well......... republican? Every ad speaks of her gun loving attitude and "down home values."

I think the democratic party is in trouble this november!

There are pro-gun Democrats out there, and to the extent that they are not worse on other issues than Republicans, they should be supported. Only pro-gun Democrats will ever be able to roll back gun laws in this country. Pro-gun Republicans will never do it, because they will let the anti-gun Democrats shout them down every time.

Yes it is a step forward for sure. These ads say nothing about being democratic at all, just seem to be aimed at grabbing votes that are leaning toward the right by saying how she has right wing values rather than left. still democratic though. If the dems were as strong as they were 2 years ago i highly doubt this ad would have aired

    THIS.

I cannot emphasize this enough. Do NOT EVER pay attention to what somebody trying to get votes is saying. They will say whatever they have to, whatever they think the voters want to hear, and will make every promise imaginable, in order to do exactly that. Pay attention to what they have done in the past, to what they've said when they WEREN'T looking for votes, to how they've voted. What they have done previously is what got them to where they are, and they aren't going to change that winning formula. They aren't going to just wake up some day and change who they are or what they believe.

Who do they expect to believe it. Not all but most liberal persons I have ever been around have caused nothing but trouble for me or others because of our morals, values and work ethics. Pretenders of patriotism with a one track agenda and anti-gun. Some of them are also nosy as :poop: The ones that are like that turn you against them and set a bad example for the good ones.

Well that "pro-gun Democrat" has been rolling over on his back for Nancy Pelosi since he was elected, so I don't see that as much of a recommendation.

He has voted in favor of some of the legislation pushed but in a gun debate he is far ahead of Dan Coats. Coats showed that he will "roll over" and completely support taking away your second ammendment rights. In the same context you are saying Mike Pence isn't a good reccomendation since he backed Coats. Yes, it is party loyalty but he still backed the guy and by your definition he is a bad choice as well regardless of being far better than the rest of the field.

Dan Coats is a bad choice. Brad Ellsworth is an evil choice. So what if he votes for gun rights while he cedes the rest away to a government seizing control. At some point his masters will tell him it's time to take the guns away too. He will.

Bloomington and "progun Democrat"? Sounds like she is trying to drum up support of the surrounding community (mostly Republican, non-student and non-School faculty types), but is riding the Democratic banner to maintain the Bloomington proper base of voters (highly liberal that tend to vote straight ticket).

Met a bunch of folks and used to be a "progun" Democrat. I believe in abortion, stem cell research, gay marriage, more education funding, etc... But I realized that I did not like alot fo the views of the Democrats as a whole (such as gun/crime control, social agenda, etc...), but the religiousness and general "family values" (run amok in the Bush years) soured me on the Repub agenda.

No middle ground, no compromise, nothing out there that won't be a wasted vote. So I vote Republican. I dislike heavily the concept of "lesser evil", but that is how it goes. There is no place in America anymore for the gun toting, non-christian, art loving, Prius wanting nutjobs anymore. :( :D

I think there's all kinds of room in America for your views and my views, as long as we are willing to let each other have them without trying to shut each other up. I'll argue abortion with you all day, but in the end, neither one of us gets to make the ultimate decision, pay the ultimate price, or reap the ultimate punishment for that situation. As long as you're willing to stick to trying to persuade me of the rightness of your position, instead of compelling me to believe it or to shut up, and as long as I'm willing to grant you the same, there's plenty of room for all of us.

Um.... Everyone loves art in some form, and most people like the Prius... The government just shouldn't be stealing money from some to give to others so they can create/buy these things. That is why even a "Pro-Gun" Democrat is a reasonably bad vote to someone who values freedom/liberty/personal responsibility/etc.

Most Republicans seem to be just as bad, so no free pass for them either.

On a side note I would totally drive a Prius if I could get a used one in good shape for under $4000. If I wanted to buy a car that paid for itself though, I would buy a Geo Metro or a mid-early 90's Honda Civic and get as-good or better mileage than the Prius.
