Basically the feds and local LEO are begining to use mobile x-ray machines to scan vehicles for possible bombs on the highway. Seesm like we inch closer and closer to a police state.
Much like Green Bay on Monday Night (Da Bears!!!), we have run out of "half the distance to the goal" penalties.
How much "closer" do we get before we can stand and say, "yes, this is a police state"?
Do we wait for nighttime KGB-like raids on those who say such things? Would that be proof enough? Would it silence those awake enough even then?
Folks need to realize this is not an Obama thing, and it predates Bush/Clinton/Bush and even the minor deity Reagan.
This country has been on a slow march (frog in pan) for quite some time. Opinions may vary as to the causes, timing, and fuel, but its occurrence is as plain as fresh mustard on a white shirt.
No crisis is ever wasted in furtherance of the expansion of the state, and some (e.g. the "War on Drugs") are used to simultaneously excuse and fund the state's expansion (neat trick, but it requires some monopolies).
It is as if someone picked up Animal Farm, 1984, and Brave New World and thought of them as great playbooks rather than dystopian warnings. Actually, knowing Huxley's background, utopian playbook may have been his purpose anyway.
