Sarah Palin: "Well North Korea, this is stemming from, I think, a greater problem when we're all sittin' around asking, oh no, what are we gonna do, and we're not having a lotta' faith that the White House is gonna come out with a strong enough policy to, um, sanction what it is that North Korea is gonna do. So this speaks to a bigger picture that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policies. But, um, obviously, um, stand with our North Korean allies, we're bound to by treaty.."

Slip of the tongue? Or just Sarah, exercising her limitations?

Sucks to have verbal dyslexia... My wife gives me the stare of "Why did you just say that?" at least once per conversation. North vs South, red vs blue... I've mixed them all. That's why we stopped at one kid.

I heard that same quote (or very similar) on Beck today, and went "yep... she'll get ostracized for mixing north and south... while Obama can keep adding stars to the flag when he mentions 57 states..."

    Edit: found the quote:

SARAH PALIN: Well, North Korea, this is stemming from I think a greater problem when we're all sitting around asking, "Oh, no, what are we going to do" and we're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea's going to do. So this speaks to a bigger picture here that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policies. But obviously got to stand with our North Korean allies. We're bound to by treaty. We're also bound to by ‑‑
    STU: South Korea.
SARAH PALIN: Yeah. And we're also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes. And, you know, to remind North Korea, well, we're not going to reward bad behavior and we're not going to walk away and we do need to press China to do more to increase pressure on that arena.

Let's try not to paint her as stupid for simple verbal dyslexia. We complain when the other side does to our favorites... then trumpet it when the other side makes a case out of it on our side.

Assuming the simple mispeaking - saying "North" and meaning "South" - aside... what about her assessment does or does not sit well with you. Please analyze the statement - not just the verbal dyslexia.

You can't analyse her initial statement where she made her verbal gaffe. It's nonsensical. I've heard better statements from drunks, to be serious. (And, no. I'm not implying she was drinking or is a drunk). She really can't speak well, even when she has time. She's scattershot, at best.

Change the "North" to "South" and it still doesn't come across as a very intellectual statement.

    Not Palin.
I'm not the brightest crayon in the box but even her ignorance shocks me at times.
She talks by stringing a long line of buzz words, void of any real substance.
Maybe she knows more than she reveals but the only thing that comes through is fluffy stuff and a lack of deep understanding.

I am waiting for the inevitable sex scandal. I pride myself on giving candidates equal weight and consideration in every election. But, if she runs, I will not vote for her and most of the conservatives that I know won't either.

I hope the Republicans pick a better candidate than that. I have met her several times up here and she is a very nice person, but I wouldn't want her to run this nation. If my options were her or Obama, I would just move to Canada.

Ahhhh... but if she (or any other candidate you don't want) gets the GOP nomination... will you - when faced with a choice of the GOPer you don't like vs the Obama - vote against the GOP or vote against Obama?

I pushed to get folks to vote FOR a candidate in the 2010 General - but most of those I knew, just voted AGAINST Ellsworth. They did not want to vote for Coats but had to in order to defeat the monster they saw in the other party.

    Will 2012 be any different?

Quitting her post as governor of Alaska makes me question what kind of person she is. I sure wouldn't vote for her in the primary. But if she were to get the Republican nomination I will vote for her against Hillary.

I like her pluck, as they say. She's got more balls than Obama to. Just as many as Hillary. The difference is she'll use them to make a positive difference for America.

If she's on a ballot and there's no better candidate, I'll vote for her without reservation. It would be nice to have a plain spoken leader in the White House for only the second time in my life. One with balls.

I will say this on WHO I would prefer to be my president.

    That person does exist
    They have plain spoken honesty
They are true to the principles of liberty that our founders based our Constitution on
They understand that compromise is necessary in govt
They also understand that compromising their own principles is a sell-out and would never do so
They understand that all negotiations and compromises must be within the limits set by our founders via the constitution, and any "comprise" that moves the govt outside of the boundaries of the Constitution are not allowed.

Most importantly: they would never willingly run for President - not because the job is the toughest one in the world - but because they are humble and not presumptuous enough to expect folks would vote for them.

You had me until your last point. I want someone that wants the ball with one second left in game seven of the last game they'll ever play. The current office holder wants to play president, not be president. We see how that's working out.
