You take care Andy219 & perhaps we see you at the next one.
Update the list to [strike]strike you out[/strike].

    Range Donation Update
I picked up 10 8' timbers today at Menards. They were on sale $1.95 (Reg. $3.95). That will be our donation for this month since the range has a lot of plywood right now. They might have to cut them to 6' because I think these may be a tad bit too long. The only other size was 4' which was too short.

    Total cost: 10 @ 1.95 = 19.50 x 7% tax = 20.87
So we got about $49 and change left in the post for next month.

    Additional request
With Andy out of the picture could someone please bring some pop otherwise it's grape kool-aid for all. :D

Also does anyone have a revolver in 38 special?

ive got a case of mexican pepsi, sorry thought i posted that

    Jedi's AAR

    NWI INGO FUNDS
    Prior funds: $70
    Expenses: $20.87 (10 8' wooden post @ $1.95 each)
    Donations: $30 ($20 INYOOPER; $10 GhostOfWinter)
    Balance of Funds: $79.13

    STATUS OF DNR RANGE
Mr. Kraft thanked us for the donation and advised that he is set for wooden post most likely for the entire year! He had close to 30 post **before** our donation. This winter they were allowed to use the trees that fell or were damaged in the area as wooden post for the range! So needless to say he has a ton of wooden post. Plywood he had about 10 sheets and advised that one of the other DNR locations gave them some recently has they did not have a range or need for the plywood. So at least for the rest of the year plywood seems to be the best bet in terms of material he will need.

    SPECIAL THANKS
I want to thank our donors for making it possible to continue to give to the range!

    THE DRIVE TO THE RANGE
I left the house (alone this time) around 6:45AM CST it took my time (going speed limit as I crossed porter county) getting the to range. Took the back roads since I was not sure is Rt. 35 was open. Found out later in the day that is it open now. Don't think I'll take it every again however as I enjoy the back roads more. It's a very nice peaceful, quiet, jedi alone time! It was a bit eerie this morning because there was a lot of fog. Me was afraid the zombies might come out of the ditches. ;)

    MY RANGE
I got there at 8:28AM and there was no one there but Mr. Kraft. I set up and had the entire 25 yard range to myself for a good 45 mins before a man with his 2 boys and girl came with some handguns. It was such a cool feeling to have the entire range just to me. Got a lot of things done that I had been meaning to do.

    THE GUNS: Moss 500
Finally got to pattern this shotgun. Maybe it's me but seems to me I need to aim lower than I intend in order to "hit the target". I had one of those "fbi man targets" and was 25 "feet" (my feet so about 19') away from the target and my first shot was way too high. I was aiming for the head and missed everything. I was using Buckshot 00. Second shot I aimed for the chest and got pellets in the head and above region. 3rd and final shot aimed for the legs and got the chest instead. Perhaps I'm anticipating the blast/recoil and am pushing upward on the SG. :dunno: The pattern was not super tight but the pellets on the 3rd shot were in the chest area. So looks like I either need to practice more with it to get the pellets where I am or just remember to aim lower. Sadly no one else used this gun during the whole event. So I'm gonna clean a almost not used gun at all tomorrow anyways. :faint:

    THE GUNS: WASR-10 AK-47
My sister took her girlfriend, her girlfriend's boyfriend and a co-worker (boy). Between the 4 of them they went thru close 210 rounds on the AK today. The boys loves it. The girl's boyfriend is prior Slovakian army (2 years I think) and he loved the AK. The co-worker had shoot some rifle's with his grandpa before so knew the basics. I think Wild Duece would have been proud of them. Gave them some appleseed targets and some 4x4 black box targets and the two went to town spotting each other's rounds with the binoculars. They did standing and sitting positions with the AK. They were under the impression that you could NOT own one in the states! They asked where they could get one and it looks like sometime next week we will have another AK-47 member among our ranks. (Sorry AR loves). :D I do feel a bit jealous that my AK played with some other boys instead of me. She is such a little
    smiley-talk034.gif
    I think. I shouldn't clean her but alas I don't want a dirty little
    smiley-talk034.gif
    . :):

    THE GUNS: GRANDMA's .22 REVOLVER
You can read all about what this little gun looked like over here.
    https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...ing_a_s_and_w_model_34-1_stainless_steel.html

I did test fire it and it did not blow up in my face! :rockwoot: Granted standing at the benches I was not able to hit jack! Even standing 10 feet away I was still shooting to the left with it. I suspect it was the ammo (Remington Golden Boy) more than anything else. Joe tried it from the benches and was able to hit the targets but I don't think he was using the Remington ammo. :dunno: My sister tried it as well but she had the same "emotional" response that I had. We just could not fire the gun more than a few rounds as it's really grandma's gun and the circumstances in which it is under my possession just makes the little gun feel like it should be cleaned, oiled and preserved until grandma can use it again. Even though we (the family) knows that won't happen again. :( So now that I know it does work, I'll finish trying to polish it and get a nice display case for it.

    THE GUNS: 10/22 #1 & APPLESEED
This is what I spend the majority of my 2 hours alone time (before INGO) arrived doing in honor of the APPLESEED some of our members went to. Thank you Clif45 for the APPLESEED targets (The Classifications AQT).

Test 1 = 98 (I missed stage 2 completely as I in error did stage 1 twice!) :faint:
    Test 2 = 116
    Test 3 = 172 (Sharpshooter!)
    Test 4 = 176 (Sharpshooter!)
    Test 5 = 192 (Sharpshooter!)

Learned a few things doing these test and shooting some 4x4 targets as well.

    * I need to press the rifle into my body before I pull the trigger to have even better control and accuracy.
    * Only fire while I am holding my breath & at the top part of the "breathing cycle"
    * MAX of two shoots per breath held anything else and I begin to black-out by losing focus in the eyes.

I need to try this again but with a sling and I'm sure I can get over 200 next time. Also GhostOfWinter is right on this. Try using CCI .22lr ammo as well. The FEDERAL bulk pack is ok the groups are not tight but still manageable. I recall when I used Clif's CCI last year when I was sighting this rifle the groups were much , much closer.

Overall I'm happy with my process for having been given no formal training apart from reading the Appleseed literature and looking at the YouTube videos regarding how to shoot "appleseed style".

I should try what I learn on the 10/22 with the WASR-10 next time. Not sure if the 30 round banana clip will allow me to lay down thought. Will have to try some test dry fires at home with that set-up.

The 10/22 #2 rifle was never fired this time around. It just went long for the ride.

    THE GUNS: RUGER MARK III
Just went along for the ride. My sister did not shoot it even though she wanted it there to shoot.

    OTHER PEOPLE'S GUN: MOSIN
Special thanks to the "army boys" that brought the Mosins. I'm sorry but I don't remember your callsign. :( In any case they brought several different version in various lengths and it was AWESOME to shoot them! They did not kick as bad as I though they were going to. On the shorter version you could feel the muzzle blast. They are a fun gun to shoot and perhaps I'll get one only downside it the bolt action. It was hard on my right hand after a while. Need to wear those padded fingerless gloves I have. I brought them but never put them on. DOPH! Now my palms are hurting! :faint:

    OTHER PEOPLE'S GUN: JOE's REVOLVERS
I got to fire a .38 special black hammerless revolver and it kicked like a
    smiley-talk034.gif
angry mule! It's very lite but watch out for it's recoil. Was using 158 g .38 special. Got backup gun I think but afraid I would only use it for real, real close quarters.

GhostOfWinter had a heavier .38 revolver that was so much nicer in terms of recoil. My kid sister liked this one more but is concerned that it had no safety. She's still a n00b and did not know that revolvers have no safeties. :D:laugh:

    I HATE GHOSTOFWINTER & GUNBUNNIES
Why? Well becuase these two have introduced me to reloading and while I don't have my equipment yet do you know what I did while most of NWI INGO was there? Yup I was like a little catfish at the bottom of the aquarium tank picking up brass left and right. I got brass of all flavors: 9mm, .40, .45, .223 and .38 special and I don't even own guns in those flavors. :n00b: I could not just pick up one brass I had to have more and more and more. <<Oh look a piece of brass... I'll be back!>>

In any case since GB did not go I had to pick up brass in his honor. Oh boy did I pick up a lot of brass. Hopefully I'll be able to one day soon clean it and put it to good use. At least the .45 for now. :ar15:

    THE FOOD
WOW! Thank you Sparky241 for cooking! I think everyone had first and seconds and even some thirds! The burgers were yummy! Hot Dogs and brats as well. The dip Sparky made was BEYOND AWESOME! It was the first thing to go! Potatoe and Macaroni salad were brought as well. It was a good feast! Andy219 I still have some grape kool-aid for you.

Also we got some pics of Sparky tossing some hotdogs to the side for those that said they were coming and did not show up. You will have some moldy hotdogs to eat. :D (FYI... no food was really tossed away)

We are set for napkins, paper plates and cups for the next go around.
Thank you to whomever brought the green/white plates! We will use them the next go-around as well.

Also not sure who left the unopened bag of chips (Onion flavor). I'll make sure to bring it next time so everyone can eat them. The BIG BAG of chips was a great idea. It just about was finished. The cooler with the pespi was yummy as well. Next time we need to bring more bottle openers. :rockwoot:

    WHAT I MISSED
I don't smoke but I did miss the smell of the guys smoking their cigars near the grill. :( Woodrow not sure what you smoke but it always smells good (the armoa of the cigar). Your little .22 & cigar were missed.

Clif!! Clif we had SG shells but no goose gun! Same for GB. Your saiga was missed as well. The boards were pretty bad when I got there but I'm sure between the goose gun and the saiga we could have finished the middle board. :D

    THE FUNNIES
So my sister asked me where is the little blue gun I shot last time? GhostOfWinter and me are looking at her like :dunno: What blue gun? She says yes it has some blue in the grips and I really liked the way it shoot. I would like one of those. We are still like :dunno::dunno::dunno: & then Joe says Oh she is talking about melensdad's detonics combat master! Ghost tells her oh "you can't afford that one!"

Ammo let down. GB you know what I'm talking about. It occurred several times with the 10/22s this time around as well.

    FINAL THOUGHTS
I had a blast like usual. Even more this time as I felt "dirty" when I left. My face felt like I have gun powder on it. I smelled like "earth". I forgot to bring my mat so I laid on the floor for most of my shooting and did not care it the cement was cold or the dirt was wet. I was having a good time shooting and doing the appleseed targets. The dirty I felt/smelled at the end reminded me of the task I would spend all day out in the woods with my great-grandfather and how it did not matter what we smelled like at the end of the day. It smelled not like sweat but "earth". Hard to explain but alas some good memories came back.

Next time I think I'll bring a few less guns since some did not get used and I'll devote more time to the WASR-10 and practice was I learned from the 10/22. Need to get more ammo for the WASR-10. Anyone know of a good site for bulk buy?

Tomorrow I'll have a solo cleaning party and get everything nice and clean and shinny.

For now it's time to rest and get ready for the next one. :rockwoot:

I knew I was going to forget a few things.
I was finally able to try out my new spotting scope.
Spotting Scopes, Spotting Scope Package, By Meade at Sportsman's Guide

It was beautiful! I could see the tear on the paper targets from the benches on the 25 yard. Heck I could see the holes in the plywood, the texture of the plywood, etc when I zoomed in a bit. So much better than the binoculars I have. SO MUCH BETTER!

I'll have to try it on the 50 yard next time but since I primary use the 10/22 and the 25 yard range for my purposed this scope is an A++. Thank you GB for the recommendation. Best $86 (after shipping) I sent. Just don't like all the SPAM mail I'm getting from that website now to buy this and that. **SIGH**

Kinda explains it... not very well, but its what I could find.
    * MAX of two shoots per breath held anything else and I begin to black-out by losing focus in the eyes.

Go one shot at the end of the exhale. Dont try to hold it in. Relax, the harder you try the worse you will do.

My first M&S with INGO NWI and it was a great time. I wish I had arrived earlier! I forgot how long of a drive it is for me. I hop on I-65 and exit on 10 (exit 230), then just go east. I pass by Jasper-Pulaski, a few small jogs and I'm there. I like the back roads even if it takes me a bit longer.

    THE FOOD
Potatoe and Macaroni salad were brought as well. It was a good feast!

Thank you to whomever brought the green/white plates! We will use them the next go-around as well.

Sparky241, enjoy the salads! On my way home I needed a snack, then realized I left the potato and mac salad in your cooler. Maybe bring them back next month to go with the slimy dogs! :).

I brought those plates. They were nice and sturdy. Didn't drop any of that delicious food.

After the M&S I went for a two hour hike at the Tippecanoe River State Park. A nice way to relax and get some alone time with nature.

Great job jediagh. I appreciate all you have done. It was great to meet everyone and I look forward to the next one. :yesway:

I'm still awake ...but it's a good kind of tired ...yeah, that makes it better! :D

Did a lot of shooting at the meet & eat ...uh... shoot. Most of my shooting was behind my Nikon, however. It was quite enjoyable (I was a photo major in a former life), and only marginally frustrating due to not being able to break the 180 of the shooting line. Not that I have a death wish (or death wish II, for that matter), but I'm sure there are some awesome shots to be had from such a perspective ...at least once! ;)

In any event, here's the link to the results of my efforts ...

    NWI INGO Meet & Shoot - 031911

Feel free to copy, paste, download, use, post here or to your own site, chop, dice, puree, (whatever) images of you ...to your heart's content. A photo credit to me (INyooper) would be appreciated; you'll get a nice warm fuzzy (or musky) feeling ....and free ammo (okay, maybe not). :D

So, I'm driving back to Warsaw on 25 and call a friend to ask what cross road will connect me with 15 before I hit town ...and he tells me that he's at a friend's house doing some shooting, and that I should come over. Ten minutes later we're busting apart water jugs, punching holes through logs, and making huge divots in the ground (I love the AK!!! :rockwoot:)!!!

As jediagh had mentioned about himself in an earlier post, I too felt dirty, tired, and spent (like reused brass, I'm sure). I experienced a strange gravitational pull to the couch once I got home (and yet, my motorcycle was taunting me to come out and play in spite of my state of consciousness).

All in all, it was a fantastic day (and the weather was near perfect!) to shoot, meet, eat, and spend time with friends. Thanks for everyone who made the day go so well!

Think I'll get some sleep now...

That WAS kinda funny. When we realized she was talking about Bob's Detonic combat master. I didn't really wanna explain to her that they cost FAR more than she wanted to pay for a gun. LOL (I see she has expensive and good taste though)

As for causing you to catch the revolver bug again sparky. I just caught it myself. I can't WAIT to pick another one I think. LOL

to be determined, there will be another pole put up in a few weeks by jediagh

More like another post in the next few days. :D
We typically add 4 to 6 weeks to the current day and open it up for a vote for SAT or SUN. I should have the next event posted by TUESDAY. Allowing all the AARs to get posted here first. We only have another 24 hours before we have to close this thread as the event is over.

So if you have an AAR (after action report) please get it in.

Not sure what picture you're referring to, or which person took it, but photographers are sometimes sneaky like that. Most of the time I despise posed shots ...unless you're a bride, then I'll pretty much take whatever you want. Even then, I'm shooting when the wedding party is least expecting it. I get some of my best images that way! :)

In any event, I tell people to do what they do and pretend I'm not there (which, obviously worked at some level yesterday :D).

BTW, you're not really paranoid if someone is really watching you! :D

Looking forward to the next event ...a few friends who've seen the images have told me they wish they could have come (and some are even members of INGO too ...priorities, guys ...where are they?!?! :D ...of course, that's spoken as a single man, with no children ;)).

Speaking of which, it was great to see some younger shooters there! :yesway:
