Actually, I should have said indirect... (stuff like that happens when you post at 3AM)... because the new bill 'gives teeth' to their existing mandate.

The checkpoints are looking for illegals... but that won't stop them from jacking you up, if you've violated a state law... and one of those laws is SB1070.

Does that make it clearer for you?

Even though I think this whole thread is totally ridiculous.. I find your comment even more ridiculous!

Everyone except j706 should rightfully find it as such.
It was a parody contrasting two of his viewpoints on this board.

I'm glad to see you finally admit people who carry concealed are criminals in YOUR mind!

    You caught me! :):

After 9,758 posts, I finally slipped up and admitted my true feelings. :(

    A-ha! I knew it!

Frankly, (not you, Frank) I'm surprised you were able to hide it as long as you did.

You're good. Oh, you're very good.

(I know, I know. That's what she said... :D)

I've been thru check posts several times in Texas and Arizona. I just take my sunglasses off and have both hands on the wheel. I've never been asked to pull over. These guys are pretty good at reading people. I'm sure seeing your wife and kids in the car they wouldn't even have asked you to pull over. I would have taken your response as a pain in the a** at least and a "see what you can find" at worst.

Who said refusing to answer something makes you a law breaker? Not me.

    Gee, let me see here...

If they thought they needed to search me,my car or my home I don't care. They won't find one single illegal thing on or in any of the above. I follow the law and have no worry's of incriminating myself. I am not hiding from anyone and I am not hiding anything. Guess I must be in the minority here. Must suck looking over your shoulders all the time and freaking out every time you see a police car or a LEO. Holy Cow!!:n00b:

I was not implying that a person who does the parrot song on a stop is a criminal. Just goofy. Funny thing I have noticed over fifteen + years of road work, I have yet to run into a person that rattles off on the not answering questions thing...nary a one. I always read about it but just never seen it. Oh well.

then that means we as Patriots have lots of work to do still by informing people of their rights. to many people think that they have no rights to protect themselves from the police. I intend to inform them they have every right. I dont care if you think im goofy or not. I wont loose one night f sleep EVER due to a disgruntled public servant who had his power trip shut down thinking im the one who was goofy for knowing and evoking my right to remain silent..

Man dude toughen up a little. No one is out to get you. No one is out to violate your rights. Why don't you come out and do a ride along and see for yourself. I am a firm believer in being a straight shooter and not playing games. Oh and by the way, I am not disgruntled. I happen to enjoy my job. I love dealing with the worst our society has to offer. There is no shortage either. So why hassle a productive citizen? If a person is GTG on a stop, play the game and let us get on to the real problems.

then why do you think its goofy to stand up for whats legal?

i dont wanna do a ride along with you. I dont like you based on what you are here. I hardly wanna sit in a car with you. Im a straight shooter too. theres other officers on here that I respect and appreciate who have offered me ride alongs, and as soon as I get time and feeling better I will take them up on their offer. thats as blunt as I can be

You said since you have nothing to hide, you must be in the minority here(I'm guessing you were referring to the people that wouldn't answer questions)...What exactly did you mean?

If I assumed incorrectly, I will be the first to apologize once I see an explanation.

So this is what you think of the average citizen? or are you a correctional officer? I would think a correctional officer is the one dealing with the worst our society has to offer. Hell we don't have chance you have made your mind up before you even meet us.

He has said some questionable things in this thread, but I think you are taking that quote the wrong way...I doubt he means the "average citizen," but I'll let him speak for himself.

Maybe so, but I doubt it. He is hard to understand what do you suppose he means by games?

Once, many years ago, I had nothing to hide. I answered the questions, I gave permission to search my vehicle. I trusted the police; I truly believed they were out there to help people.

I went to jail for "possession of burglary tools" based entirely on the box of standard mechanic's tools in my trunk. Even though no charge was actually filed, I ended up with a permanent arrest record, and it cost me several thousand dollars, 10 years later when I got a job as a securities broker, and it showed up on the background check. I had to fly out to California to obtain official documentation, and had to leave that very day or lose my job.

So I'm NEVER playing your little games again. I learned that lesson the hard way.

By the way, that arrest was the very first time in my life that I was ever pulled over. So you'll have to forgive me for not trusting you as far as I can throw your ******* car.

I just love the irony. It is legally necessary for you, not suspected of any crime--that I know of :) --to show ID. YET the Liberals thinks it should be illegal to question illegals if they are illegal when they are caught doing something illegal. When you stop and think about it for minute (and I suggest you take an advil before you do) it makes you wonder what is going on inside those little heads....

I've went through a few of these checkpoints. I find it rather ironic and quite hilarious that a few of the BP officers I've dealt with spoke in a Hispanic accent and asked "Are you a US Citizen?"

    I should ask...well........Are you!? :):
i had the same experience. i was hauling a freezer full of meat down to the bottom of texas and luckily we didnt get stopped on the way down, those dogs would of went crazy. but on the way back up we got stopped and a hispanic asked me if i was a us citizen . i thought about saying no, im an albino mexican illegal
