    All,
So last night the wife and kids and I went to the Monroe County Fair. Since my wife has "issues" when I carry, and I just picked up a Kel-Tek PF9 last week, I figured it was time to test out the conceal-ability of it. Now right now all I have is a crappy Uncle Mike's IWB holster, and with it, I cannot tuck my shirt in... (side note/question anyone have suggestions on a good IWB holster that I can actually tuck my shirt in with?) Went out to dinner first and at the fair for about 3 hours... wife never saw, and AFAIK no one else was the wiser either.

On another note, I did see one sign, on the way out, that states "NO WEAPONS" other than that I saw no signage, and even checked out their website... mo mention of no guns....

Here you go. This is from El Paso Saddlery. If you aren't in a hurry, then wait for my new holster and belt to arrive (should be next few weeks)...and I will post picts and comments on quality, etc. I haven't ordered from them before. Maybe some on here have.

This is what I ordered for my 5" MP 9mm Pro:

Don't go cheap. It's almost always a waste of money. Better-made, quality holsters are worth what you pay for them. Besides, why you would you spend $500 on a pistol and think you should only spend $15 on a holster for it?

I've always liked the Ruger P89s

    ...but you're gonna love that XDm9. ;)

The only problem I have with my P89, well besides needing a new finish, (Father carried it every day for years!) is the decocker no longer functions reliably... need to send it to Ruger for repair.... just need another full-size carry piece... hmmm, in comes the XDm 9! Now to figure out a way to get the cash!

How is the trigger on the XDm9 compared to the P89?

I know, I know... the Kel-Tec and the UM's IWB were both impulse buys, I know better, but... not saying that the Kel-Tec wasn't a good purchase, I think it fills my needs perfectly without costing me $500+ (Khar was my other option, since no one down here seems to be able to get the DBack DB9 in for me!)

I wouldn't have bought the Uncle Mikes at all, but I didn't have a holster for it at all.... should have just saved myself the $11!

I have no problem with a Kel-Tec or a UM holster. I carried a PF9 for a long time in a $5 suede IWB holster, until I figured out how to carry a larger pistol comfortably (the key was bigger pants!) If the UM holster works for you, then great! I don't think you need to justify your purchase decisions to anyone but yourself. Certainly not to me.

LOL, yeah Scutter, but the problem is I knew it was a mistake and bought it anyway! After using the UM IWB, I have to get something better. It holds the PF9, just not as securely, or as "low" as I'd like. it always seems like it's half un-clipped and about to flop over; plus the serrations on the PF9 grip are killer on my love handles! :D

Different enough that it would be like comparing the steering system of a tank to that of a modern sports car. :D
LOL, I figured... I really need to find someone in the Bloomington area with one and beg to shoot it. On paper is seems to be the perfect fit for me; hell I've even toyed with the idea of the XDm 5.25! But I'm thinking that 5 and 1/4 inch barrel is a little excessive for daily carry.

Oh, and you have just made my sig line! :D

If I may JP... I was looking at the XDM when I went to purchase, but the guys at Plainfield Shooting Supply (best price on them BTW) talked me out of it and told me I would be much happier with the XDSC. I'm glad they did. If you get one though, and have large hands, make sure to add the Pearce Extension (see my pic above). It makes all the difference in the world when it comes to control.

I live in Martinsville and have a place for you to try mine out just north of Bloomington if you would like.

I carry my 5" XD 45 in my MTAC and you're right, it's pushing the envelope in terms of comfort and concealability. To me, though, the weight and grip length are more of an issue than barrel length.

I'd love to try that out... your pic above did not come through...

My hands are large... with fingers splayed, from tip of thumb to tip of pinky is around 8.75 inches wide. (yes, I just measured it :D)

Wrist to tip of middle finger is around 7.5 inches... so yeah, I need a good grip. :) I'm planning on getting the Hogue Handall Jr for my PF9... it's just a little too slim for my paws now!
