When you can point to the government assassinating an American citizen in THIS country, you will have my attention. Until then, I am massively unconcerned with the fate of US traitors in foreign countries with ineffective central governments and no extradition treaties with the US.

An argument could be made for WACO. Women and children died there.

Ruby Ridge, mother holding a baby.

    Flame away.

And no I am not a racist or a religous nut, just a concerned citizen that still has questions why those incidents ended the way they did, and why no one was prosecuted for the deaths.

I know if (or I hope) law enforcement acted that way in Indiana there would be some prosecution. I know if LEO's under my charge acted like that I would do everything I could to prosecute them.

As for the drones, maybe they should issue a warrant for the arrest of joe bad guy terrorist before they smoke them in another country? I don't have an answer, I am not up on international law or how the SCOTUS would interpet the Constitution on that issue.

Knowingly supporting, dining with, and hanging out with the bad guys has it's costs.
It's a shame about the little ones though. I hate to see the babies killed and maimed.
    This IS WAR!
I prefer this over carpet bombing with hundreds of innocents killed by collateral damage.
I'm sure attitudes will change IF the bad guys set off a nuke on U.S. soil. Don't think that they won't given the opportunity.
Glad it's not my decision to have to take out a bad guy having a meal with "innocents".
I do think in the type of war we're fighting that when the opportunity arises we MUST take out important enemy combatants. Yes, at any cost.

War is ugly. Sometimes innocent people are killed in war, especially when they are in close physical proximity to combatants. This may be news to some of you.

    What's for dinner?

War is a dirty nasty buisness. If you don't want to take the chance of it coming to your door then watch who you play with.

In Yemen, a terminator drone targeted and killed the 16-year-old son of Anwar Al-Awlaki. He was also a U.S. citizen, and had also not been charged with any crime. I've seen no reports that claimed he was any kind of terror-mastermind or posed even the slightest threat to America's national security, as he rode around in the Yemen countryside with his teenage buddies.

    Nothing to see here. :coffee:

When did we DECLARE war on Yemen? its ok to conduct military operations under the guise of the"war on terror" anywhere in the world now? I guess because of the war on drugs we can also take out people anywhere on the planet if we feel like it now? yeah for imperialism.

    Ok, reset.

Bad guy is targeted by drone. He is taken out during Sunday dinner. Several women and children are killed as a result of the CIA hellfire attack.

    Good, bad, or indifferent?

In your example, you imply that that there is only one bad guy and many "civilians" around him. So lets break the example apart:

"Bad guy is target by drone." Don't know how the method of targeting is relevant, would it be better if a special forces sniper had him in his sights instead?

"He is taken out during Sunday dinner." Why does it matter what day and when it is? Friday is the "rest" day for Muslims, not Sunday.

"Several women and children are killed as a result of the CIA hellfire attack." Ok, now we are getting to the main jist of the scenario. The example makes the assumption that the women are "civilians" and not "bad guys" in their own right so we will go with that assumption. Also, we will make the same assumption about the "children".

Conclusion, if it is just a single guy with many civilians around him then the attack should not take place.

Counter example: If a group of a dozen bad guys had one "child" with them, does that make them immune to attack, even when the "child" is wearing the same outfit as the adults and could only be identified as such after the attack?

That's the gist of it. Might makes right. We'll **** on the sovereignty of other countries and then deny that our exploits have caused additional animosity towards us. And the best part is that the war can go on where ever, when ever, foreva.

If Mexico was launching missiles into the U.S. because the Frito Bandito was on the loose, after writing dangerous emails, Americans might understand.

We have been doing drone strikes in Yemen since 2002. Why do you think we just woke up one day and decided to kill terrorists in Yemen? Because George Bush is evil?

Yemen has been launching terrorist attacks for years. Yemen is a hotbed of terrorists so we go there to kill them.

Arrest and extradition are out of the question as the Yemeni Constitution forbids extradition to a foreign country of a citizen. So, we are left with killing them and this we have been doing.

We have enemies. We are killing our enemies. What would you have us do with our enemies?:dunno:
