I see some are itching for lung cancer.. good for them!

I got enough stuff trying to kill me, do not need thing another thing trying to help.

Both of you are around lead, gun powder and gun smoke all the time. If you CHOOSE not to go into an establishment that allows smoking great for you, but to say it should be illegal or frowned upon is silly. I am in the process of quitting for various reasons but still don't want anyone telling a private business or citizen what they can and cant do.

Its very interesting, in my lifetime I have watched smoking go from commonplace, to completely demonized in every aspect of society. From the top level of government to the lowliest factory worker.

It has been interesting to watch society change SO COMPLETELY in such a small amount of time.

I remember when "trashy" people were defined as the ones who ground their butts out on the floor, instead of putting them in the ash trays at the end of the aisle, in K-Mart.

I think the point is if you are in retail sales, an attempt should be made to cater to, or treat the customer right. If you don't, you will not be in business long.

Yep, but you gotta admit, the world is sooooo much better now than then.

he has been in a business a long time and he has allowed smoking in his business since day one. It does drive some away, not enough though to run him out of business. :dunno:

I see a similarity here. The anti-smokers are pretty determined to ban cigarettes, just like the anti-gun owners are determined in their pursuit to ban weapons. Should we fall in line and support the anti-gun movement because every day people die from nasty people with guns also? ;)

So you are saying that people who smoke and indirectly kill other people are akin to criminals who kill other people with guns?

    bravo... great argument ;)

Or wait... maybe you are saying that we should all start to smoke cigarettes in an effort to preemptively kill smokers, thus preventing them from killing others with second hand smoke?

People who smoke aren't criminals (yet), but not for lack of trying.

The world is an inherently dangerous place, and no amount of legislation will remedy that fact. I think Cemetery-Man was rhetorically asking how much liberty people were willing to give up in the pursuit of safety. I don't pretend to know where that line should be drawn, but I do know that it's being drawn to encompass more and more things and actions that were previously acceptable. I would also argue that this is "a bad thing."

No, what he said was its not the Goverment's bussiness if or where I smoke. Just like its not anyone's bussiness if I own or carry a gun.

You don't like smoking, I get it, so don't allow people to smoke in your house or on your property. My property, my rules.
If Joe Blow owns a gun store, bowling ally, bar, resturant it should be his choice on what goes on there, After all HE pays the bills
