Hopefully if I am ever in the situation to shoot someone, and I do actually shoot them, they get the hint to lay still and not attempt to be a threat after the first bullet or two. I am CPR/First Aide certified through the Red Cross, though sucking chest wounds and gunshot trauma was not covered under that course. The most I would be qualified to do would be call 911, and wait for the professionals to arrive.

once they are down, one more in the head, kick the weapon away and check for pulse with my free hand. thats all the help they get. if they dont want to get dead they shouldnt do things to get themselves shot. Period.

.....So you render first aid to the guy. It turns into a wrestling match. He gets your gun and kills you with it. You're now a dead "good Samaritan" and he's a free living bad guy after he tells the cops you attacked him.

Keep your distance from bad guys. Suddenly decreasing the distance created by self-defense is illogical and defeats the purpose of um....self-defense.

One can retain and maintain their morality without abandoning their intelligence.

Reminds me of a joke. A rancher sees a mexican swimming across the Rio Grande with a bale of mary jane. He is drowning and the rancher decides to contact the sheriff for help. After a few days he starts to think it was a waste of a stamp.

The only thing to do is call 911 and wait until you have help. SHOW OF HANDS, how many here have trained to fight on the ground and knows for sure that the person down doesn't have a knife in his belt. I know that there are a few that feel that they have special ninja powers, forget it. Wait for help. Unless you feel that you can safely cover and provide 1st. aid at the same time call 911, give a description of yourself and place yourself in a blind spot.

Oh good, a new guy who espouses murder, precisely what our forum needs

Do you think that a shot once on the ground cannot be detected.

AS a paramedic I think it might look bad for me if I showed no attempt to keep the BG alive, but only after ensuring that he was incapacitated and disarmed. Binding the hands comes to mind. Kind of hard to grab my weapon while bound behind the back. If I am alone I would keep my situational awareness up until I had some sort of help and coverage. Short answer, if I feel that it is safe I will render aid but not until it is safe.

on the contrary, i am a far cry from espousing murder, what i said was put one in their head, then kick THEIR weapon away. i simply am a self preservasionist. i have NO obligation to help those that mean to do me or mine harm. you should consider that when giving these scumbags aid, you are putting yourself further into harms way.

I think that they're saying putting another one in the head while they are on the ground is... wait for it... OVER-KILL.
    :joke:

If you don't want to render first aid, fine. Just call 911 and keep distance. Putting another in his head when he is doing nothing to you (note the OP said he was incapacitated) is murder no matter how you look at it.

You DON'T HAVE to give 1st aid. This person just tried to either kill you, hurt you, stab you, rob you. He is a dangerous person. The smartest thing is to wait for help. I will probably try but I will be sure that he doesn't have anything else on him.
