The adults in the room are always entertained when kids go looking for trouble, get trouble, and then whine about getting trouble.

A kid drives all the way from Terre Haute to blatantly taunt the police at an advertised gun buy-back and you, somehow, blame the cops? Grow up, people. This kind of nonsense is exactly the kind of things the left uses to constantly beat the drum that says that none of us should have guns.

Going there with a sign to solicit transactions to buy guns, at their event, is stupid. Period. Responsible gun owners are glad he got to sit handcuffed for an hour. Perhaps he will show a bit more maturity before he does something as stupid the next time.

I'm a responsible gun owner, and I'm outraged that the man was kidnapped by rogue LEOs.

I also fail to see where he did anything stupid. He was in a place that he has a right to be, doing something he has a right to do.

If the police are ever granted the authority to determine that is "stupid" and deprive us of our liberty as a result, we will all be living at the government's pleasure.

Kidnapped, really? Please look up the definition before using it.

OK fellas...you are all so worldly I will just say....yes, the law says this....today the authority did that. Is it right, hell no it isn't...did it happen, well yes. Did you expect anything different. I did not. I knew someone was going to be made example of when the stupid idea of buying those guns came up and by his posts it was going to be him. It was a bad freaking idea period. Spout all the law you wish, give all the examples of those who pushed back and actually won.
How many of you have been in his position. Actually cuffed and waiting to be judged at the curb. It is and always will be their way. He will have his day in court if charges were pressed and that is a crap shoot as well.
I just said it was a bad idea and was proven correct. That is all and no more.
Put down the flame throwers, I am on "Our" side. I just do not choose to taunt the authority's for something as stupid as this.

The law says purchases must be done indoors?? :dunno:

Ted, I spent my entire adult life as a LEO, as did my father before me.

When an inoffensive citizen is stopped on the street, held against his will, prevented from leaving, and handcuffed for a minute or for an hour, by an individual or individuals, with badges or without them, who have no shred of legal authority to do so, but who act merely because they are irritated that he is embarrassing them by a display of his constitutional freedoms, that citizen has been kidnapped.

I await your proof that I am mistaken.

Please know I am not knocking you or your steadfast beliefs. I am stating we are already near what you are describing with the Gov.
I have done battle with these folks on their mistakes and it is expensive, time consuming and drains your soul. I won but it sucked all the way. It has haunted me to this very day. There is a human factor involved that goes beyond the law. It is the CYA factor.
His actions in light of our standing in the community only serve to slow down our march to get acceptance on equal ground. Do not feed the machine anything else that can be used against us.

Again I ask in all honesty, how to change this.

Gosh Roadie, I have done the exchange in the White Castle lot by exit so and so with another ingo member through the classifieds and am always aware that LEO can pop up and ruin my day. Heck, why go into his affair and do something like this, legal or not' and expect anything different. Just saying, his court, his ball, his rules and he is the referee. Leave it alone for goodness sakes.

The young man did stir up some emotion and some good posts but in the end....what.

I'm really just wondering if there would be a way to set up a kind of counter buyback for the same day as their buybacks in the future. It's really upsetting to think that war bring-backs and other guns with historical or cultural significance were picked up at one of these and melted down, all for $50. It makes me wonder if someone could set up a buyback on the premise of historical and cultural preservation. To me that doesn't sound like a premise that would make the general public nervous because it sounds more like the whole idea is to preserve history, which would be what would actually be happening. I just wouldn't want to see a gun that should be in a museum melted down as scrap (probably an improbable occurrence, but I've seen much weirder things happen.)

Okay. So besides your semantics, does kidnapping meet the statutory definition? No?

How's all that training, education, and experience working for ya?

Better double the dosage now: :chillpill: :chillpill:

The rest of the world defines kidnapping as "to seize and detain or carry away by unlawful force or fraud."

    The man was kidnapped.

Woudn't this be applicable, since they FORCEFULLY moved him across the street to where they were?

    He was not moved anywhere.

A person who is held in police custody is held legally. A person that has been kidnapped by rogue cops is not.

    And you know this, how?

ETA: There's that kidnapping thing again.....despite the contrary being presented.
