Don't remove him as a friend now; he needs you now more than ever because he's succumbed to anti-gun propaganda! I find that a significant amount of people who oppose gun rights also support decriminalization of drugs because they've seen prohibition doesn't work.

If he's one of those guys and supports decriminalization of drugs because prohibition doesn't work, extrapolate that to the 2nd amendment & guide him through the logical thought process and show him how guns are no different; criminals will always obtain them and good guys who don't have criminal networks and black markets to go to will suffer.

Nidal Malik Hasan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pistols make terrible assault rifles. :D

Aimal Kasi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Terrorist, or simply a murderer? He shot strangers near the CIA headquarters because he was mad at US foreign policy.
I could go on, but you get my point.

I'll agree that "assault weapons" are used by terrorists the world wide. But, they haven't been used much domestically.

Best I can think of is the "Beltway Sniper" (Beltway sniper attacks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) who actually DID want to instill panic, though only as a distraction for his intent to murder his ex-wife.

Don't know. I've never seen anything like that published by the NRA. They never asked me.

He grew up and lives in Hammond, Indiana which is down wind of Chicago!

This guy is simply a kook. I do not intend to worry about what he says and there is no point in arguing with him.

That speaks volumes given the relationship between communities: Chicago and the surrounding SSRs are the a** and Gary/Hammond/East Chicago are the toilet bowl.

    Here was my response:

Of course we back some restrictions, like the current Indiana laws on the books. We have plenty of laws and don't need more. Right now you can't buy or even posses a firearm if you are a felon. This would make it practically impossible to work at a gun store without breaking that law (holding a firearm is possession). You must pass a federal background check to purchase a firearm of any kind. You must be a US citizen. Out of state purchases are not allowed without transferring through a licences dealer. You may not purchase a firearm for someone who would not qualify. Licence to Carry Handgun Permits are closely reviewed by state and local police and held to an even stricter standard than gun purchases. Disqualifications include record of DUI or any violent misdemeanour's, such as assault, or those who have been arrested for domestic violence. AND ABOVE ALL, IT IS ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL TO USE A FIREARM FOR MURDER OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF CRIME! From the same article: Gallup polls over the past two decades show the percentage of Americans who favor making gun control laws "more strict" fell from 78 percent in 1990 to 44 percent in 2010, BTW, what is the terrorist watch list and who gets on it? Is it like the "no fly" list that includes babies and old ladies? Isn't that punishing people (taking away their rights) even though they are not convicted of any crime? Real good gun article backed by Mayor Bloomberg and published in the Chicago Tribune!

    FBI — Table 20
Crime data from the FBI, broken down by state for the year 2010, (last year available).
Seems in most states, murder by "Hands, Fists, Feet etc" out number murder by those evil black rifles.
You won't change his mind......nothing will, but stay calm, and counter with facts.
(Anti's hate when you use facts).
You may just get thru to someone reading the debate.

Thanks for the link. It also illustrates that the states with the strictest gun control have the highest murder rate. I'll keep this handy. I think he stopped messing with me since my last post.

I like that sampling of a whole 945 (supposed) gun owners.

...Which, given that the NRA has over 4 million paid members, means statistically speaking, is a sample size of zero, so the answer to this question:

Were does he get his 82% number? Seems a tad bit high to me...

...is that the Facebook college buddy found his number here:

i would counter with " in a recent poll, 63% of people who oppose gun rights also oppose the sale of milk on any day but tuesday" just to show that he is not the only one that can conjure up "facts". i mean...once its on the internet its true. everyone knows that. in all seriousness i would just delete him and call it a day. no sense in raising blood pressure.

I feel ya, OP. It's only going to get uglier as D-Day approaches. Had my first politically related friend hide from my news feed yesterday. I've put up with his shares for months, been totally respectful of his position, offered an alternate point of view, but I've had my fill of it. This "freethinking" individual is willingly unemployed, rides a bike all day and plays World of Warcraft at night. He's a grown ass man, with 2 kids and a wife. And an Obama cover photo.

Got a few others on the short list to get hidden. Granted I may be totally cool with them in real life, so to speak, but this tolerance ad nauseam crap is going to cost me too much money in Zantac if I keep it up. Unsustainable.

The NRA is absolutely a terrorist organization. I was a member for a year and every time I opened my mailbox I was terrified that I would be buried in an avalanche of dire warnings about the UN/Democrats and solicitations for donations!

OR post pro gun info for him to see and unfriendly him.

Thanks for pointing those out. I thought Hasan used a pistol.

Plus, how do we define "terrorist?" By motivation? By ethnicity of the perp? I would consider the Aurora shootings an act of terrorism.

Why some people don't is a matter of semantics I guess...
