"We will not accept any treaty that infringes on the constitutional rights of our citizens to bear arms," he said.

U.S. officials have acknowledged privately that the treaty under discussion would have no effect on domestic gun sales and ownership because it would apply only to exports.

I could missing something... but is this anything to be fearful of? :dunno:

It's kinda of worded like it will be a ban on OUR exports...

Is it also a ban on our IMPORTS?

    YEP, winner.

It will ban other countries exports as well.

Say goodbye to that cheap 7.62 ammo and guns.

So if Russia, Cina or the US want to ship arms to, I dunno, let's say Syria, or perhaps Mexico (F&F), will this get in the way? If so, who would sign it? If not, what good is it, except to prevent citizens from importing collector's items, such as m1's from SK?

"In Syria, we have seen the death toll rise well over 30,000, with weapons and ammunition pouring in the country for months now," he said. "We need a treaty that will set tough rules to control the arms trade, that will save lives and truly make the world a better place."

    Again AND ammo.
    Say adieu to cheap ammo.
