I have always had long guns since I was a kid. But, over the last three years, the short guns seem to be acting like rabbits. I think it is related to the state of the Union!

My wife of 23 years doesn't like motorcycles or guns....they both kill people.

I never owned guns when young or when we met, just shot a lot of .22 rifles plinking with friends when I was early teens. About 5 years ago, friends took me out to shoot sporting clays, I came home and said honey, I am buying a shot gun, I hope you stay.

Couple years after that I went and bought first handgun. We are several firearms later now, and she just prefers to not know what is in the safe or see them, but lives with it. Oh, and two summers ago I bought the first bike I have owned in 20 years, now I have 2. Finally got her broken in I guess LOL

Might be ok with it, cause she probably just took out a 1,000,000 life insurance policy on you. (Might want to test your brakes real good before taking a trip)....:D

Pushing 50 and just decided the world's too insane not to be protected. Besides, the current administration has pissed me off so much I can't resist the chance to spit in their eye :)

My wife was a little alarmed when I firs t talked abou t wanting to buy a pistol. My motivation was in part all my enthusiast friends at work, but moreso it's the ignorant pursuit of the liberal agenda in this country to wipe our rights out of the Constitution. I'm a firm believer in the notion that the best means of deterring armed criminal is by arming responsible citizens.

I like the spit in the eye.:)
I never cared for the M-16 I carried for 3.5 years but if they want to take away my right to an AR-15 I think I want one now.

I've had pistols and long guns my whole life. Now at 50 , I've seen what a train wreck this country has become. I know that there is no one looking out for my a$$ but me. It was time for LTCH. Now for the wait for the mail.

Good to have another blue-suiter on the forum adws943.
I was in my LGS a while back, an older gentleman said that he hadn't fired a gun since Korea (he looked to be in his 80s, I figure he meant the Korean War) but with what was going on today, he thought he needed to buy one. He left with a .357 magnum.

^^^Nice! I am a first-time gun owner as of 1 month ago. Did research on what I wanted to buy for about 6 weeks then bought an XDM 5.25 9mm and applied for my LTCH in the same week. It was mostly a friend of mine that I work with that is big into guns that took me to the range twice and got the ball rolling in my interest. Plus I'm pretty in to politics and not at all a fan of the current admin. I like the 'spit in the eye' comment someone made earlier :)

It was the perfect storm of realizing that if I don't take steps to protect my family and myself, no one will. Plus now the gov't is trying their best to limit my ability to do so.

So a little less than 2 months go, at age 54, I bought my first gun. Then a second and a third. Joined the NRA, GOA and SAF. Applied for my LTCH. Bought up some ammo (some through the selflessness and generosity of a member here on INGO) and made the decision to do whatever I could to protect my 2nd Amendment Rights. Hope to take some training as well.

I have been on and off with shooting since 10 years old. Up until about a year ago when I got my concealed carry, I had not been out to the range for about 5 years. Now I carry every day and get out to the range as often as possible. Only outdoor ranges near me and it has been bad weather this winter, so here's to looking forward to the spring!!

I went and bought my first gun last year. I decided that if I was going to be at the job I am at for over a year I should most defiantly have one. I also was finally about to save some money. Now I have a Ruger SR9C, 91/30 Mosin, and a Bushmaster AR-15. Needless to say I have bought 3 guns in the time frame of 4 months.

It's like you are in my head. ^^^ I am about to turn 42. I recently dug out my dads old Ranger.22. Cleaned it up and am doing my best to teach my kids about gun safety, shooting and care of a firearm. Until recently I never gave guns a thought. Now I am on this site constantly and I am looking for an HD shotgun, possibly a handgun, and a LTCH.:rockwoot:

First off- Thank you for your service. It is greatly appreciated. :patriot:

    To answer your question.

I got out of the Marine Corps. in 1981. I owned a 12ga. Mossberg 500, and a Marlin model Glenfield 60 when I was discharged.

I bought a Savage model 24 .22Lr/.410 and another shotgun the description of which eludes me. Sometime later, but still too young to think better about it, I sold all but the Mossberg 500, because I thought I needed the money more than the firearms.

A year or so later, a friend of mine got me a job at a local safe manufacturing company. Before the company closed and left town, I got a mis-made safe (built to other than the customers specifications). I had to manufacture a door to fit it, but it was a free safe, and a good one at that.
When I took my free safe home, I had one gun, my Mossberg 500 to put in it. By the time I finished out the interior, I had spaces for 28 long guns. I had MANY spaces to fill.

It has been all down-hill from there. There are now 5 safes in my house, and I'm running out of room again.

It can very easily become an addiction, but it's a really FUN one. :ar15:
