Obviously this is a terrible symptom of a terrible disease. Someone in the system should have acted on the problem years ago rather than pass the kids up the line for "someone else" to deal with it

I firmly believe in the death penalty...However i think it loses some of its deterring power when implemented as a peaceful and painless medical procedure...i say let adam lanza and people like this particular scumbag be hanged until they are dead in a public forum...many say its "archaic" i think it was effective...noone wants to go out like saddam, like the p.o.s.'s that they are. They deserve neither dignity nor mercy, at least not in this life, or the next IMHO (but we'll leave that to god)

I'm down for public executions again. Firing squad, hanging. Anything to put fear in a criminals heart.

But thats about it...honestly, as a law abiding person, i have to face the facts that my death is, in all probability not going to be as dignified or humane as some murderous ******* that raped and killed children....i would be so lucky as to have a last meal, planned last words, and anesthesia before i met my end...and the cherry on top is that i payed for there comfortable passing.

The 17 year old will be charges as an adult. He will be going to big boy prison. The 14 year old will be out on the streets again way too soon. The best we can do is hope some of his fellow inmates will know what he has done and make him pay dearly for it. I am afraid though "prison justice" is not what it used to be. If out gov't only had the courage to do what is right I would gladly donate bullets or rope to the cause.

And with that being said I have rope and bullets

No one holds juveniles accountable for their actions, they don't understand the consequences to their actions. Since they took away the schools ability to spank children it has gotten worse. When I showed my butt, it got spanked by the adult present and then again when I got home. I learned there were consequences to my actions.

Women certainly need to understand they need to arm themselves. I taught in a NRA course yesterday and the question was asked, "Would you shoot to kill a person?" As always, the women said, "If they were harming my children..." That is the typical answer from mothers, but they must realize that if they are harmed, then their children have no protection, in most cases.

Another fine, upstanding Youth. Wonder if Obama is proud of this son......

I didn't know President Obama had any sons. The media does everything they can to protect that guy. If that was your son, they would be sure to tell everyone. I wonder why they are keep this news under wraps? :dunno:

unfortunately it is a societal problem. when the welfare system has taken discipline out of our homes and our schools, this is what we end up with. im 51 yrs. old. while growing up, if I got out of line, which I did often, I got my a$$ busted. I would be quite a while before I needed it again. it did not matter if we were out in public, or home by ourselves. a backhand across the mouth, a belt to my butt, a piece of hot wheels track, sometimes I had to go get my own switch from the back yard. was I abused? NO. I was taught right from wrong. until we bring back good old fashioned discipline to the parents, we can look for more of this trend in America. just my opinion.

The solution is real simple .

GUT STOMP liberals and other societal deviants all the way to kommifornia then put a fence and mine field around it .

This way , those of us who can play nice in public can live in peace the rest of our natural lives .

Libtards and their soft way thinking have crept in and infected our society like a cancerous tumor and needs to be dissected before we all perish .

I taught my dog to s^%t outside by whipping his behind , now he goes to the door when he needs to go . Kinda funny how that works huh ?

I'm guessing because it was a mom and her baby that were the victims of this evil.

    Yes, but so?

This is something that affects all society. It's not a woman issue. Or a mom issue. Seems like it would be more appropriate for the Carry and Self Defense Forum.

It's not a big deal that it's posted, I just don't se this as being relevant to the forum except for the very superficial connection of the sex of the victim.

How about no burials for such persons. After execution you will be cremated and ashes sent to random landfill?

And no, it doesn't violate the 8th Amendment (cruel and unusual). The person's already dead, it's not a punishment. But a warning to other perps that you will be disappeared if convicted of such offenses.

And to be clear, the rehabilitation mantra we hear so frequently is a recent development in penology. Until the mid-1800s people made no bones that the purpose of the system was to punish the offender and protect society.

Does it matter that the offender is 17 yo? Would it matter to you if you were the mother of the murdered baby? Does anyone really think that this monster can be rehabilitated?

I remember when I was young, if I got into any trouble I got my hide tanned royally!! I am really in favor of holding parents accountable for their kids' actions. We really have degraded as a society and the kids think there are no consequences for their actions.

I agree. I'm not defending the reason. I just figured that since the OP hadn't posted many of his own threads, that was his rationale.

Some people believe that people are born innocent and civilization corrupts them.

Some people believe that people are born corrupt, and civilization needs to teach them to act a certain way for civilization to continue.

People tell you that "Children are not born with hate, they learn it."
    Or
"Children have to learn to lie, they aren't born with that knowledge"

    B stinking S

Ask a child if he broke something.
He doesn't want to get punished, they will "invent" lying.

Where do they think violence came from in the first place. There was no one there to initally "teach" them violence. So therefore it should have never happened.

I believe that "All are concieved and born sinful, and are therefor in need of forgiveness" (from Lutheran Baptism Liturgy). That is pretty powerful in that yes, even innocent little baby's are born into the world as sinners. I'm not going to spend the rest of this post debating religion, or discussing that religious people still do horrible things, and non religious people can still be very good people of character.

Instead, I want to focus on our society. As parents we have a huge responsibility to teach our children right and wrong. For some of us, our religious beliefs help us define right and wrong, through the 10 commandments and other teachings of the church. For others, general moral codes about right and wrong are used.

What is unfortunate that both religion and traditional morals are being erroded daily in not just the US, but in much of the world. Those who chose to practice their faith are often mocked and ridiculed, and we see a trend to push religious values farther and farther out of the "mainstream."

Those who wish to live by traditional values, such as using both discipline to deter undesirable behavior and love and affection to encourage desirable behavior, are challenged because sometimes that discipline involves a very physical deterent, such as spanking. Today's society wants to scream "ABUSE" comparing spanking to beating the children. Spankings are different than physical abuse.

I don't know the history of the suspects, nor do I know they are guilty. Our due process will determine guilt. What we do know is that more an more of these young offenders come from backgrounds and upbringings that do not teach them right and wrong. Instead, they learn for themselves, or from others that also were not taught, but learned on the street. Too often those street lessons are disrespect, violene, and general lawlessness.

On the note of parenting, my Dad passed recently and we have been gathering his effects. In one box I found the leather razor strap that dear old dad used on us when we crossed the line. When you know there is pain and suffering involved the mind (in normal thinkers) has a way of avoiding this.
I knew full well that if I was caught in some major Bravo Sierra me dad would reduce me to nuclear waste and sweep up what was left. With this in the back of your mind you either avoid such involvements or become damn good at not getting caught.....or both.
My wife was not pleased when she saw the strap and received the reason it existed. She will put a boot up the kids butt when needed but she thought the strap a bit much.
There is a point where punishment fits the infraction but I agree....the strap was a bit much and my dad would use it.
