I can't help but wonder what this weekend could bring for Indy? Not trying to bring more problems but would hate to see anyone caught up in a mess if one were to break out.

I'd be more worried about the routine violence at the Black Expo, which is always reported as "not related to the Expo". Your regular thuglettes coming downtown to fight with the other thuglettes, fire a few rounds into a crowd of rival thuglettes, etc.

Black Expo has a pretty bad track record with violence as it is. However last year was not bad. Now that the IMPD is under manned and with the Zimmerman trial that is a recipe for disaster. I avoid downtown Indy anyway and I live very close to it. There is no way I am even driving thru downtown for the next couple of weeks. Being prudent is not being prejudice.

Last year was to bad! Like 8 people got shot. I wish they would reroute these losers up to chicago where they will all just blend in to the violence and other thugs. Turn it into chicago expo and let indy have a break.
Stay away from dowriwn unless you wanna risk death or robbery. Zimmerman verdict or not! We already had one black male shoot and kill someone on the night of the july 4th fireworks. This summer is gonna get crazy for expo.

You just ran right into one of my pet peeve issues. Prejudice, by its nature, is assigning non-factual attributes to a person or group generally based on group identity. It is NOT stating a simple matter of fact, but rather ignoring fact in favor of projecting an image. This brings us to the point at which denial is a form of prejudice as it assigns non-factual attributes contrary to fact. Prejudice is not required to be unflattering in nature. In fact, most of us are prejudiced in favor of a number of things great and small (i.e., PROVE as a matter of fact that Coke is better than Pepsi). In the end, the only requirement is presenting as fact something that is subjective in nature or based on a falsehood.

The problem we have now with this issue is that we live in a society that demands that we ignore demonstrable truths in order to avoid being 'prejudiced' even while addressing fact and not prejudice (i.e., crime goes through the roof during Expo, which is clearly does).

A pet peeve of mine someone being called racist for acknowledging facts instead of ignoring them. It's often referred to as being "politically incorrect" as well.

Bad is a relative term. There were not "large scale" shootings or riots. Reclassifying those incidents that did happen as not related to the expo, clears the expo of violence. But if you have any sense you can see the relationship. I am not trying to put the expo down, facts are facts and even the perpetrators of the violence love to post YouTube videos of their deeds. The expo is known nationally for it's trademark violence, hence the campaign by the organizers to down play and reclassify the violence to make it seem more friendly and less violent.

Here is a article from 2012
Black Expo ?inescapably tied? to race violence

The locals here in Haughville refer to it as "Gangsterfest". That leads me to think the participants don't have the same view of Black expo that the organizers do. It is a shame because something positive could go a long way in easing tensions here.

I work downtown part-time for a local news outlet, so I'll be down there this weekend (in the city, not actually at Expo). Am I worried about my personal safety? Not really. When the fists and bullets inevitably start flying during IBE it gives me and my station something to cover.

Hmmm, not likely. This weekend is opening weekend for IBE but we rarely have issues on the first weekend. It's the closing weekend that we have issues. The wife and I will be downtown tomorrow evening enjoying the best steak in Indy, St Elmo's. Even next weekend, come downtown, we have no issues with IBE patrons. It is the thugs that swarm the city after 8pm Fri and Sat evening. They don't attend the IBE (or at least the vast majority don't) but love to come down and just cruise, hang out, and start crap. Just about every able body officer on IMPD will be down there next weekend. I'll be down there walking with my pepperball gun.

I think it will be a great weekend to go fishing and stay away from any city. It is not hard to find something better to do than go to downtown Indianapolis during the next week or so, and only a fool would go there looking for trouble.

According to the apparently muslim woman on HLN last evening when asked why blacks riot and burn down their neighborhoods, it is the white man who burns and riots not the black. The blacks are reactionary. This woman is a racist in th pure sense of the word. She said it is the white man that comes into the blacks neighborhood and burns things down and hangs blacks. Oh really. You are a nasty nasty little girl, aren't you?

So I recommend all people, that are not black, stay away from Downtown Indy this week-end. Let the black people have it. If they want to set things on fire, let them. If they want to beat and kill their own kind, let them. Let's not give them any chance to blame anyone but themselves.

Obama is a happy camper today knowing he has a good chance to bring martial law to Our Country and force an all gun band down our throats.

Are we equally worried about Hispanics rioting if Zimmerman gets convicted?

I'll bet most Hispanics in the USA have literally no idea that Zimmerman is Hispanic. As we all "know" courtesy of our friends at NBC, MSNBC, and their colleagues, Zimmerman is a well known white supremacist who acted solely on race hatred.

I guess in one way, I am equally worried because I ain't really worried about either one.

However, you can educate me by letting me know about the history of Hispanic rioting in the US. I admit ignorance.
