I'm not sure what your first sentence means, but while you are in uniform, shut up and sit down!

I don't know the consequences of this, but he can certainly be punished for it. I don't know if it's just a simple Article 15 he'd face or if there's a whole host of other repercussions like loss of rank, fines, discharge, you name it.

I believe he's permitted to do this in civilian attire, but in uniform, nope.

Upside down flag is a signal of distress, right. He may very well be in distress. Not sure that it is a punishable offense.
...but then again, I've been out since '90 and some things are bound to be different.

Is that near the license branch on the West side of Emerson Ave just north of I-465?

A better question would be why is he doing this but I assume it has to do with the Government shutdown. No other signs.

He may be a former Marine who decided to don the uniform just to make a statement. Who knows?

Likely. **edit** after reading the article this is true.

He still discraced the uniform. I wouldn't be surprise if some fellow marines "persuaded" him to stop.

I disagree. He earned the right to wear that uniform. Now that he is now longer governed by the rules and articles of the UCMJ he allowed to have an opinion and voice it. There are 1000's of Marines that feel the same way that, as Que said, must sit down and shut up. Just because they took the oath doesn't mean they don't have an opinion.

He's more than welcome to voice his opinion-OUT OF HIS UNIFORM.

He's more then welcome to voice it in it! He has every right in the world to wear it and say what he wants. He's not on contract, he's breaking no rules. He's exercising his 1st Amendment rights. Why on earth should he not be allowed to wear the uniform that he earned.

**edit** It appears from your earlier post that you didn't read the article and that the Marine IS in-fact a veteran, no longer on contract. That being the case he's dong absolutely nothing wrong. Now if he was still on contract, correct civilian attire only.

No. It takes an informed and energetic electorate.
