I would turn in the serial numbers and a make model to the police. Provide contact info and sit on it tell someone valid claims it. Others wise its just gonna be a free gun to someone at the police post.

You are talking out your rear end. Guns turned in go into the property room. OP is the one that wants a free gun, not the cops.

I would have never posted this in a public forum. I will not think for you or tell you how to act.
But you know what the right thing to do is. Right???

My impression from his posts is that he knows exactly who it belongs to so why the need to turn it into the police as most here are suggesting?

It's disappointing that it was left behind. What if a kid found it that hasn't been schooled on what to do? What if wasn't found by me that is law abiding and citizen with multi-state carry permit? My conscience is my guide and the police will have it soon.

I hate spoof threads, yet I'm struggling with the urge to create one of this thread. It would be from the perspective of the gun, and told as a child would tell the story of being lost and then kidnapped by a troll.

Not calling the police before posting on INGO doesn't speak well for your conscience.

You can believe me or not, it's your all's choice. I came to this site to ask what to do because I felt I would give me a perspective of what to do. As far as multi-state carry permit, "Utah". It isn't a lost gun it was left behind in a public place. It would be nice if know one does claim it that I would be able to have it. I don't believe anyone doesn't fight with themselves with what's right or wrong when it comes to found items. But this is a dilemma with something that could of been dangerous if not found by me.
