So Pointing a Gun is Justification for Deadly Force

Three lefts may make a right, but two wrongs never do. I have no problems with a cop, or anyone else for that matter, protecting their life when looking down the barrel of a gun being pointed at them unlawfully--self defense is a right regardless of what uniform you do or don't wear. On the other hand, a bunch of cops going all ape@#$% pointing guns and making threats to someone exhibiting zero offensive or dangerous behavior is completely overboard...and police threats should have serious consequences, just like they would for an average citizen doing the same thing. In no way do I see these two different opinions as mutually exclusive. Self defense is not abuse of power and visa versa.

INGOers lose their collective minds when excuses are made for criminals but when the criminal happens to have a badge, suddenly excuses are good.

What is important is that each individual receive equal and full due process regardless of their employ.

Oh, and yes, having a gun pointed at another can be grounds for a justified shooting.

Nowhere have I commented that the officers in the link weren't justified in shooting people who pointed guns at them.

Within the context of that article? Yes.

IIRC, it's Coopers' safety rule #2: Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. If that muzzle is pointed at that LEO (or an armed citizen), it's reasonable and prudent to presume the 'gun-pointer' intends to destroy that person.

The Defender doesn't get to choose the attack. They DO get to choose the response as THEY deem necessary.

Probably if you point your gun in a direction of anyone who possesses a firearm will get you shot. Not just LEO's.

Now that was messed up. There is no excuse for acting like that short of an immediate deadly force confrontation. At lease none that I can think of.
