No one has yet mentioned the XD .40 Subcompact. You can get this gun for a good price, comes with the Springfield Armory name, and accessories out of the box. Small size and numerous options.....
The Springfield Armory name is just a stamp on a plastic Croatian pistol.

...A plastic Croatian pistol I carry everywhere I go, and have for 5 years. Another vote for the XD40SC.

G-27 in a IWB Crossbreed holster and it just vanishes. light enough by the second or third hour of the first day wearing you will forget it is there.

what's your experience shooting both of those? are they pretty good?

never messed with the little ones in their lineup.

Cathy owned a M&P 9c for a while, and my EDC is the XD9sc. Between the two, I much prefer the XD. The M&P felt good in our hands, and isn't as top heavy, but when shooting neither of us much enjoyed the experience. It always felt like the gun was squirming around, trying to get away from us. It wasn't, of course, but it felt like it. That's the subjective part.

Objectively, the M&P 9c was more accurate than the XD9sc is, and I liked the trigger better. I like the fact that the slide is black stainless, which should give it better resistance to corrosion, though I've had no difficulties with my XD9sc, nor did Cathy with her XD9 Tactical. Reliability with the M&P was flawless, as it has been for our XDs, and the gun was a sweetheart to carry.

Between the two, I shoot the XD9sc better, and prefer it, but it's a choice made purely on subjective grounds. It just feels better to me.

I had a Glock 27 and really liked it but all my other polymer guns were M&Ps so I sold the Glock to buy an M&Pc, but bought a Kimber Ultra Tactical instead. I still plan on picking up an M&Pc soon though.

Wow 14 posts for Glock, the fan boys are in it hard :dunno:. Anyways I forgot to mention the Stroeger Cougar, they are well made and accurate guns. I also like the 24/7, if you do not mind a manual safety. I have not shot a P-06, however I did at one time own a 75B. It is one of the most accurate guns I have ever fired. Cz's are really getting up in price though. I have not shot the FN, but picked one up. It had good balance, and a smooth trigger.
