I never understood the reasoning behind Latin rituals & Mass. God understands all languages and is infinite so he's seen plenty of languages come and go... and the Bible wasn't written in Latin... so, what's so special about a language that few people understand? :dunno:

    Is that like Aramaic????:)

(I am a college drop out TLex....:))

    haha

I momentarily confused Amharic (Ethiopian) with Aramaic (language of Jesus' time). :D

Since you were around back then, I should've figured you'd notice the difference. ;)

Yeah...Me and Church got embarrassed one time down in Ethiopia making that mistake ordering some food from a vendor one time....It was after the first or second Crusade and we just decided to head south and see what we could see...Church hooked up with a pretty Ethiopian chick and I always figured Yordanos Teshager may be one of his (many) g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-granddaughter's........:)

So the anniversary of reformation corresponds with the pagan Samhain?

Irony and coincidence, all rolled in to one candy wrapper. :D

Carryover from the Manhattan attack thread: How does the Old Testament apply to us today? Do Catholics use the Old Testament? No snark in that question by the way, I honestly don’t know. I assume they do.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Do you read psalms? Proverbs? As Christians as I understand it, we're not yoked with the law like the Jews are. We're not held to the ceremonial laws for example. We're not held to the laws that God set out to separate the Jews from gentiles -- we're no longer required to be circumsized and the dietary laws do not apply. The OT is important in understanding the nature of God and how it pointed to the coming of Jesus, almost from the beginning.

Without the OT portion of scripture, it's really, really hard to understand the true nature of God and the importance of Salvation.

Catholics study and preach from the OT. In fact, their OT has more books in it than yours does - the concept of purgatory is derived from one (can't recall which one).

EDIT: Just peeked at the Manhattan thread... I don't know where the heck Route 45 gets the idea that the OT, or the Commandments are null and void.

Oh, I will say that Acts 10:13 is my life verse.
