Holy Constantinople, Batman! This thing is proposed for 5 mins away from me!

There's an online petition circulating in opposition to it ostensibly to preserve a "residential" parcel. The close of the petition is, "Let's preserve this quiet and uniquely residential pocket of Carmel!"

The parcel is a beautiful agricultural/residential 9.75 acres on the west side of Carmel. It abuts a subdivision on 1.5 sides. Has a little pond on in it and everything. Really nice parcel (except that it abuts a subdivision). There's a larger parcel just to the north that is still rural. (It'll be interesting when that owner cashes in.)

Anyway, I don't recall a petition in opposition when the Coptic Orthodox church went in a couple miles south, right across from the school campus. Or when the Greek Orthodox church went in a few further miles south. Both of those were also adjacent to residential areas.

He was a smart businessman and promoter. He was also a good legislator!

    RIP Salvatore Phillip Bono!

He was supposedly a heck of a good cook as well.....

They should buy it if they want to control what goes on there.

Unfortunately we can not hold other Countries to the Constitutional of the US. We on the other hand are bound to allow people of faith to practice their religion unmolested.

Block it until we get a cathedral built in Saudi.

And no, I'm not interested in moral high ground.

    1) Apparently you also aren't interested in following the law because....

    2) While the kaaba at Al Masjid Al Haram might be an early example of a roundabout, Mayor Brainard and his zoning department don't have any jurisdiction over Mecca. Yet. Annexation might still be an option.

Ultimately, any sort of tit for tat argument to deny a special use will not be legally sufficient.

Who is "we?" You're a Carmelite?

Nobody is, unless you have a convent or a monastery

Dangit. The Man of Teal and Detail beat me to it. ;)

I demand we block all RC cathedrals until the opening of the Vatican City First Baptist.

It looks funny, at least until the whole "Muslims are like this and everyone else is like that" wears out.

...and some of my Muslim friends would agree....others would be pretty disappointed in how the Muslim comedians portray themselves. Wait, crazy thought: maybe all Muslims don't share the same thoughts on everything.
