Catch and release of feral animals! Revolving door justice and people in the justice system who won’t put their foot down with these lowlifes. Again, the parents who were breeding these animals need to be held accountable. It’s got to stop!

AMEN to that. To get rid of weeds start at the roots. Penalize the parent/parents somehow. If the parents can't pay let THEM do community service. Guarantee that will get results.

p.s. I bet that's why adults use kids for crimes. Odds are they will walk with just a slap.

Wait. What? You can't get guns in Chicago - THERE ARE LAWS!!!

This is the same ole same ole crap! Our LEO's work to get these guys arrested and the prosecutors office pleas them down to what amounts to a stern talking to. Then they do something stupid and illegal again and BOOM - the cops are to blame. The family of the perfect little, ankle bracelet wearin', never-been-in-trouble-with-the-law angel who was just walking home from a prayer meeting to grandma's house at 2:00am on a school night. it's all the cops fault! Outlaw them...[apply purple where appropriate]

Not true at all, don't fault the prosecutors, fault judges and the state. One of the reasons I became a police officer, was because (as a probation officer) I was tired of people on probation not living up to their conditions, getting new arrests, and the failure of judges to revoke their probation and lock them up.

So how do we fix that? Really. There is a huge effort to keep juveniles out of adult jail, so how can this be fixed? Not being ornery here, truly looking for a way to improve the circumstances. Kids should NEVER have firearms in the circumstances laid out in the OP. There is a whole list of failures (mom, dad, grandparents, friends, etc...) that these kids are off venturing around with a loaded firearm and not really having enough life experience to realistically understand what the danger is. Death is permanent. I'm angered and heartbroken for the mom's that are on TV time and time again who have lost a child to this. I'm not naïve enough to drink the "evil black gun" cool aid, and I'm not excusing the parents complicity in what their kids have been exposed to. I would love to rail against the deficiencies of the State or it's antiquated systems, but this starts in the home. How do we fix that.

How do two “juveniles” end up with in possession of two pistols popping rounds off in the middle of the city?
This happened only a few blocks east of Lockerbie square downtown. Anyone think the prosecutor will go for the gun charges or just let them off with some probation?
Look, if they are adult enough to steal guns rob people etc. Why is the courts trying to keep them out of jail? A big part of the problem is the gang bangers know they are not going to serve time. No deterrents at all.

I personally thought President Obama would directly address this is issue I waited 8 years.
But I still don’t place the blame on him I place more blame on President Johnson.

Justice must be swift and severe to be effective. Dog bit is as close to punishment, most juvenile felons will ever see.

Is there more to the story than what is posted above?

Without more, I can't believe people want to lock these kids up for this. All that is described is some kids being stupid.

That would be a pretty sure way to ensure they are lifelong criminals.

I had no idea Obama was president for the past quarter-century.
No, obama wasn't THE reason, he was just A reason, like his mothballing operation exile and pardoning a record number of felons with firearms convictions--just 'cause, being a SJW and all.

I agree with that. He certainly contributed to the problem. But it's certainly not something that can be laid completely at his feet.
