The founders intended for every man jack one of us to be armed, trained and ready for call up to defend our country...sort of like Switzerland. And yes I have studied the topic, just not in my own personal spin studio.

I’m not disagreeing with what you stated above. The training expectation would be considered a form of regulation.

I would be curious as to the types of firearms you own. Are there AR-15's among them or pistols with large capacity magazines? I've known a few shotgun shooters/ owners who didn't think anyone but the police/ military should own such guns.

    Yes and yes.

BE Mike, Probably not going to get a realistic answer as the poster has only posted in two political threads and they may not be trending in his favor. dontfeed

Haha, you obviously know me so well. “Don’t feed?” Do you dislike any opinion that doesn’t align with yours?

Be Mike asked a simple question with a valid rationale and I answered him honestly. He brings up a valid point that not all gun owners see things the same way and have nuanced opinions about a variety of topics, including gun control.

I've yet to determine if you are opposed to the NRA or campaigning for Joe Donnelly.

Because it has to be at least one of those? It would be easier to lump my opinions in with those of others. I’ve just commented on posts and asked questions. I don’t have an agenda. Just entertainment.

I don’t think the democrats want to outlaw guns.

That is the most ignorant statement I have seen on INGO. I would say more of what I think but it would probably result in me getting banned.

Then I’m not sure that you have been looking around enough. Any proof to back up that claim or just another person who wants to argue with only emotion?

The Democratic Party has never advocated the banning of firearms. Gun control? Sure. The banning of firearms? Nope. My statement is accurate. I welcome discussion if you disagree. Otherwise, we can agree to disagree without you being snippy.

Im guessing you watch a lot of cnn. I suppose they don’t want to ban AR15’s right? Hillary Clinton saying she’s open to the Australian buyback here in the U.S. has nothing to do with a gun ban right?

I don’t actually watch any CNN. Banning AR’s has been talked about by Democrats, but that’s not banning “firearms” as an outright ban of all types nor the platform of the entire party (I’m fairly certain of the party platform comment, but not 100% certain). A single candidate doesn’t account for the entire party. Roll your eyes all you like but read my entire statement before commenting next time. Notice that I haven’t advocated any type of legislative proposals. Just pointing things out when people make incorrect statements out of ignorance or as a part of an agenda.

You said the Democratic Party has never advocated for the banning of firearms. Then claim a single candidate doesn’t speak for the entire party. Uhhhh, it does when the particular party in question elected that candidate to be their primary, therefor representing their views

Party Platforms are a start and a unified chorus would be a continuation. So Trump speaks for all Republicans? Did Hillary speak for all Dems? I think the answer of both of those questions is a solid NO.

Does trump not represent the Republican Party and those who voted for him? I don’t agree with everything he says or does, but he got the republican vote because republicans agreed with most of what he said. Hence, he represents the republicans. Pretty sure Hillary was there because most Democrats agreed with her views.

So you agree democrats want to ban the AR15, that’s progress. Heck with the shall not be infringed, as long as you think we shouldn’t own them. So which firearms do YOU think we should be allowed to keep and bear?

Lord, I hope not. I do not believe most Trump voters are aligned with his entire platform.

Primaries for both parties favor the more extreme sides of each party (especially recently). As a result, many times those who win the primaries actually aren’t the best examples of representatives of their party. The Republican establishment didn’t want Trump, but eventually went along with him (and many are stepping down rather than running for re-election). The Hillary/Bernie rift, (which is what probably allowed Trump to win the electoral college) goes to show that a candidate may not speak for the majority of a party. I never have denied that SOME Democrats want to ban AR’s. I said that Democrats haven’t advocated for the wholesale ban of firearms.

I understand why some would want to ban assault style weapons but handguns are the primary weapon used in murders throughout the US. I don’t think that the banning of any firearm would be beneficial to curb the murder rate. There are 300+million firearms in private hands in the US. You can ban them and expect positive results.
