Was just thinking about the comments about racial preservation. I’m not sure what is meant. If it’s in the same context as cultural preservation, then what you’re talking about is no interracial marriages. The culteral context was about blending cultures such that the cultural differences are absorbed by society as the new people assimilate generationally.

So cultural segregation, which appears is what the progressives want (it’s what the concept of “cumtural appropriation” is designed to do), is the way to stop blending of cultures.

There’s only one way you intentionally preserve races. You prohibit interracial ****ing. I suppose the idea revolves around racial purity. And that’s ****ing racist. So let’s just knock that **** off from the gate.

If an interracial couple wants to ****. Let em ****. Ain’t your business. But It’s fine and even advantageous for their future you encourage marriage before they **** and have kids.

I don't think Mongo meant that all, he didn't even pose the "cultural" component into the conversation. Mongo, at least as it appeared to me, was indicating how he believes that society has, somehow, created a backlash against anything perceived as "white," and how to stop the trend.

Whoa. If I'm going to have a net tax return less than last year, especially if it's to the tune of $1200, that's going to be a nasty check I'll have to write.

They've been talking about it on the news this morning. A lot of people are *****ing because their refund is smaller or they owe this year, but they fail to understand that they got to keep that money up front instead of on the back end.

    Amazing, isn't it?

I was only working part time the beginning of last year. Instead of $30 to $40 withheld for federal tax it dropped to $0.

Interesting that I get $0 back this year.

Most people have no clue how much they pay in taxes. I wish I didn't. The total my wife and I pay makes me want to, well a lot of things. It is ****ing ridiculous to say the least.

You'd think I would have learned by now... :):

    Three guesses why you haven't.:gheyhi:

Although the only reason that I looked to see whether I paid more this year than last is because it's in the news and it's a thing. Otherwise, it's like, I work, I get paid, they with-hold some for taxes, and when I do my return I get the leftovers back.

I use Turbo Tax and it shows you a direct year to year comparison on everything so it was easy to see. Just looking at my W2's from 2017 and 2018, they withheld a little over $2700 less in Federal taxes last year compared to 2017.

I got returns when I had children under 17. Otherwise I pay on the 15th.

I do not begrudge anyone that takes the child tax credit or any other legal deduction or credit. I have never failed to take my 1/2 social security deduction, tools, materials, and anything else I could.

This year, unless you have more than $12K in deductions, it's not worth itemizing. I did it anyway just because I wasn't really sure where I'd end up, but in the end, it gave me the new standard deduction. I guess if that stays the same I could probably just file a 1040EZ and be done with it.

Take every legal deduction available to you. Every single one.

Wasn't one of Mr. Trump's campaign promises that you would be able to file a simple one page return?

Yep, and in my case that appears to be true. I just had to go through it to make sure (well, I had Turbo Tax go through it. LOL). I don't have a ton of deductions - mortgage interest, property tax, vehicle excise taxes - but they didn't come near $12K.

Yep.... the problem is, that wasn't explained; at least not that I have seen. That's a problem. I imagine a whole lot of people rely on their tax refunds, and plan accordingly. Had those persons known that they would've been shorted on the back end, since it would be added to the front, I wonder how many people would've actually supported this ax plan, even with the full knowledge that they were actually getting more money back? Nevertheless, this is pissing off a LOT of people, and it's not just those that already dislike the president.

I understood it from the beginning (that each paycheck was having less taken out). It's not Trump's fault if other people didn't understand that. I was just curious to see how it would look come tax time. Figured I would get less back, but just didn't know how much less. :dunno: If they want to see where it went, all they have to do is look at last year's W2 compared to this year's. It's right there in black and white. Pretty simple concept.

The good news is, those people that are *****ing are free to have their employers hold out additional funds so they can voluntarily give the government a larger interest free loan next year.

Yup. It drives me nuts. I had this discussion just last week.
Guy was saying he was paying more taxes, because he got less back.
I tried to explain he got less back, because they took less.

Then the discussion evolved into the discussion on deductions. Cause they eliminated some.
But, I tried to explain that the standard deduction made up for that, unless he had some questionable deductions.

This was the first year I used the standard deduction.

On TV, the internet, and the newspapers, I saw it explained.

    meh

Obviously, hate-filled, racist Trump and the Republican toadies arranged for smaller refunds to make life hard for minorities and the poor.

The lottery is a tax on stupidity. I'd guess most of the people complaining about "paying more taxes because their refund is smaller" were going to "invest" a lot of the refund in lottery tickets.

Maybe .gov should calculate a filer's marginal rate and include the information and a simple explaination how to calculate that number from previous years (for comparison) with the return, and give a simple explanation for how to calculate that number for state and local tax, too

Unless some state has successfully challenged the cap on state and local tax deductions, some people absolutely will be paying more in federal tax - but they likely will be quite aware of exactly why
