In this we as members get to pick and choose among several items being offered up. Some are obvious flippers and the price reflects., Many are fair and some are straight up deals. Some complain there are no deals in the classies anymore. Many of those who do bemoan this are themselves flippers. Come on people we can track this stuff. My 12 year old G-daughter can track this stuff.

Do as you will just stop complaining. Not knock on stocknup. Just using his post as springboard.

Not trying to beat a dead horse ..........My join date vs post count could certainly have a label put on it ( rightfully so ) and am not proud of it . but just recently have more time to contribute more so to the forum .
I do and have gained a lot of knowledge on here , have got some great deals in the Classifieds and met some nice folks doing so . I want to be more of a team player and help make this site appealing to new members and keep it as such for the old ones .
I am open to an adjusted post count .........Someone on here earlier commented on another site , that you had to keep contributing to stay active ........I don`t have a clue how to or what it takes to run this site , or how easy it is to make modifications .
I like the "Keep Contributing " idea . It would force some ( myself included ) to participate more ........
Maybe after getting your 50 posts , To stay " classified Active " you have to do add at least 50 a year .....100 ? Just a thought .......
Not my site , not trying to change it ......I just read some frustration with a lot of seasoned members .
I was in no way just pointing out anothers` flaw trying to make myself look better ............I have a lot of room for improvement myself .

Hate to say it but there is an option easy classifieds fix. Just forget the post count and only allow access to the classifieds for site supporters. The classifieds are a perk and not the reason to be on INGO anyway. This will take care of the runners and others only here to buy and sell. Plus The low post count post count site supporters setting up shop in the classifieds will get seeded out quick enough.

Interesting idea of only site supporters being able to have access to the Classifieds.
    I like it.
It reminds me of the difference in Wal Mart and Sams.
Sams with its $50/yr. membership seems to attract a different clientele (I'm choosing my words carefully) in its "weeding" process.
At first, I gladly paid my $20/yr. membership here to have access to classifieds, since I could see them, but had to buy from other sites (there were 2 or 3 others) or used guns from the LGS.
A $50 fee would give a person pause, but I say raise it from $20 to $25 , oh, but wait, I'm retiring this summer! :lmfao:

Is it broke? The answer is yes or no. If it's no, don't fix it.

That's kind of what I've been doing. I look at everything anymore. I'm okay if someone isn't a site supporter but they must contribute. I look at post count, if it's kind of low then I look at the content that they did post. Is it worthwhile? Did they bring up new topics, or help someone with a solution, did they return to the threads they posted in? I look to see if they have brought in any referrals? Are they a flipper?

Any ads I post now say "no flippers, squatters or non-participating members". I have no problem telling someone that I won't sell to them and why. Same goes if I plan to buy something. If I wouldn't sell to them then I won't buy from them either.

The flippers & squatters are (unfortunately) here to stay. It will take someone selling something to someone who shouldn't have it, and then them doing something bad with it to change that. Or maybe ATF deciding to make an example out of one of the unlicensed dealers. Both would kill the classifieds completely. Wish it would change before that happens. Until then I'll just be VERY selective with who I deal with. I have my ignore list that I follow, it occasionally grows.

Well hell, here I just thought nobody wanted any of my stuff I was trying to sell. Maybe no one trusts me because I've got a fairly low post count? I personally dont post a lot mainly because nothing really catches my attention. I participate much more regularly on other forums. And I list my stuff for sale there too. But those are nationwide, and less likely to be able to save shipping costs.

You aren't even close to be what this group is talking about. You're not doing anything wrong.

There's a few people that sell a lot but have post counts of 50-60, usually all done in a 2 week period in 2011, then all they do is post WTS.

Note I said a few people - this isn't some crisis, I don't think we need more laws (we all love freedom, right?), I don't think we need a site support wall to keep them out. Not everyone has $20 of disposable income for INGO, and I don't want to see them excluded.

IF I was asked to change things, I would implement some scheme that keeps 50 post / site supporter, but when you tried to post your 5th WTS, you need 100 posts, then your 10th, 150 posts... Of course the unintended consequences would be a whole new set of runners...

Let's just not try and fix things, or intimidate folks like dieselmudder, who might get caught in this dragnet.

Actually. That doesn’t suck. I think I like that idea.

Really though, is there anything wrong with people just using the forum to buy, and sell? it generates opportunities for all members, and if after awhile they dont move product they just fade away. Do you really want to force people to post more, if they dont have anything good to contribute?
