    Then there's this:

Others named in the sweeping sex sting include billionaire Wall Street financier John Childs, as well as a former Citigroup president and a president of a Florida Boys and Girls Club, according to reports.

Childs, 77, the founder of Boston private equity firm J.W. Childs Associates, was charged with soliciting a prostitute by the Vero Beach Police Department, Bloomberg News reported Friday. He was one of 165 charged in Vero Beach as part of the multijurisdiction criminal investigation into Florida massage parlors.

Childs, who has a home in Vero Beach, hasn’t been arrested. "I have received no contact by the police department about this charge,” he told Bloomberg on the phone. “The accusation of solicitation of prostitution is totally false. I have retained a lawyer.”

Bloomberg News in another report named John Havens, Citigroup’s former president and chief operation officer, as one of those caught up in the prostitution probe in Palm Beach County.

Probably billionaires like to eat at McDonalds too. Maybe Burger king. Driver drops you off at BK, have a burger and fries. Head over to the “spa” for a $59 beej. Make a day of it.

It's sad that asian massage parlors are taking a hit to their reputation over this.

We've got one in our strip mall. They were busted 6 months back, with no activity for a few months, but now we're starting to see 'activity' again. Hillarious to see the rich dicks parking their Range Rovers and Mercedes in the back of the building and giving the secret knock on the back door to be let in. Never paid them much attention, and they never look you in the eye.

In 2015 they busted one in Carmel accross the street from Matt The Millers, a few blocks from city hall and the Palladium. They are all over and already have a reputation.

A friend from the area all this took place says that LE tactics are being discussed.

The operation started in October 2018 resulting in hidden cameras being placed in these “spas” in November. So far over 165 men have been charged. Was this operation about protecting these women who were trafficked and forced to be sex slaves, or was this operation to go for a record head count on the number of johns charged?

Many feel like if this is really about human trafficking and the women that were forced to be sex slaves (which should be the priority), these places should’ve been raided and shut down immediately when it was discovered through initial video surveillance that this was indeed going on.

Certainly not my area of expertise, but *generally* a long investigation means an investigation that's trying to move up the chain of command of the criminal organization. It's easy to pick off the street level (or spa level) criminal. That just makes a job opening that's quickly filled. You've got to move up the chain to get any real damage done to the organization and actually shut it down. Note how long investigations of outlaw motorcycle gangs have lasted.

Agree, but the point folks have been making is that overlooking a drug deal and watching sex slavery are not the same. What if it was someone we knew in the sex slavery?

I joke about the rich guy’s getting caught paying for cheap sex. I really don’t understand Paying for it in terms of personal character.

But the story has mostly been about the rich dudes getting busted. Seems like if people really gave a flying **** about what’s really wrong with that situation we’d be hearing more about the parler operators getting busted, and some women being freed. Was this long term investigation for the purpose of busting big important names, or busting the ring, and freeing those sex slaves?

ETA: of course they did bust many of the people invoved in the ring, but it’s Kraft in the headlines. The story is the complaint here.

Seems like a lot of these investigations get bigger too as they see bigger names pop up and certain prosecutors see the opportunity to put their names in the spotlight, maybe in hope of future runs for mayor of a big city.

I've seen evidence of 'girls' living on the premises, with their 'parents' showing up once and awhile to bring clean clothes, etc... I'm guessing someone turned them in at some point, to get the law on them, but I can't be certain. As a 35 year old business, I don't need anything to disrupt my business, so we pretty much mind our own business, but it is disconcerting. If I had direct evidence of wrongdoing, I would call the local LE, but alas, I do not.

So what does a billionaire NFL team owner do after his team wins a superbowl? Ooh. Here’s something. Go to a cheap asian spa and pay $79 for the daily special.

Something that rhymes with I'm going to "Disneyland"???? (Use a J. PM if mind not filthy enough to play it out)

Have to agree, for guys in his pay scale it just doesn't make much sense. I would figure a billionaire could find a more discrete place even if it did charge more than $100.

Agreed, you would think with all his money that he could come up with a more discreet place!

I think a lot of folks who are that wealthy or famous are just usually allowed too get away with behavior most of us would be jailed for or at least lose dear friends over, because of how extreme it was.
I'm not saying all of them. There's just a feeling of being untouchable that one has on top I've heard.
