Okay, just playing devil's advocate here, but remember when the bakery didn't want to bake a cake for a gay wedding, and everyone was like, "It's their business! They should be able to refuse to bake the cake!" And "Any private business should be able to refuse service to anyone for any reason!" There were a LOT of people here on INGO expressing those feelings. Now that we're (gun owners) the "gay couple" (figurativey speaking), not so much. Just sayin'...

I do not see the comparison here. My POV on the bakery was if they do not want your business, go some where else. Pretty much the same here.

In this case these places are access to an entire class of people. Whereas the bakery said come on in and get a box of Napoleons or turnovers.

You city people and your choices of retail establishments and restaurants are funny some of us live in rural areas.

Kroger is a easy one nearest one is over 40 miles away in Owensboro, Ky

    Walgreens is the same

Walmart is harder to avoid don’t shop very much with them anyway, used to buy 9mm, .45, .22 and 5.66mm hard to beat .29 CPR for Winchester XM193

Will still have a big IGA and mom and pop hardware stores and such shopping trips are about twice a month.
I believe some city folk go like once a day?

Right, and Walmart is saying, come on in and buy some shotgun shells (or our cheap chinese crap) and please don't open carry. Seems like we're saying the same thing.

My last order from SGAmmo was for 62 gr. open tip Winchester 5.56 for 30.6 cpr, shipped to my door. Honestly I haven't bought ammo at Walmart for a long time. I either reload or order online for the most part.

As for grocery shopping, once a week for me. Kroger 5 minutes from me, Aldi and Walmart about 10 minutes (but I don't buy groceries at Walmart since they're more expensive than either Kroger or Aldi on most stuff). The main thing I go to Walmart for are my prescriptions, laundry detergent, fabric softener and water softener salt.

For the record, I think it's a dick move by Walmart. Pure virtue signaling political BS. I'm just having a hard time getting outraged over this particular virtue signaling political BS. :dunno:

I haven't bought ammo at Walmart since they stopped selling long guns to 18 year olds.

The Virtue signaling bothers me so I avoid those that do it.

Let's review... Some nut job(s) go into some store(s) and shoot up the place. The response? Let's take away all means of defense against said nut jobs! The liberal mind... 'tis a puzzlement.

I am sick and tired of the phrase "virtue signaling".

Here's the definition: the action or practice of publicly expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

EVERYBODY does it, especially on INGO. The only difference is whether or not one agrees with the position that the other party is taking - when you don't agree, it means that the other person is "virtue signaling". When you accuse someone else of "virtue signaling", you are trying to show that you are expressing the superior position, which is, by definition, guess what?

    Just...quit...using...it.

Well will see if I get a canned response or a real one... betting on nothing at all. Here is what I said... and no I didn't put a lot of thought into the wording. But I am done with them if this continues.

Just hearing about the decision to stop with certain or all ammo sales and the open carry ban at all stores. I do not openly carry a firearm, but I feel that this has started the corporation down a path that will take a lot of time and loss of money to turn around if not changed immediately. I realize that I as a single person with a small family and a meager group of friends can not make the decision change, but I will not be frequenting any store from this point on. It seems that to make a statement all you have to do it talk, but not think. The tragedy that took place was not the fault of honest people or Walmart. Thank you if you actually read this far.

Lets think about this, Wal-Mart we will stop selling Handgun ammo, when our warehouses run out of inventory! So we are taking a stand doing something. Well how about since Wal-Mart is grouping people who target shoot, plink and train in the same group as nut jobs why wouldn't Wal-Mart immediately pull all offensive ammo off the shelf and return it to the manufacturer, or destroy it at a loss?

Well I can tell you I will not be shopping there at all. We can get all of our groceries at Aldi, and guess what RK sells coffee etc.

I believe Sam Walton is rolling in his grave.

    Walmart’s lame-ass response to me:

    Hi ****,

Our customers are very important to us. We want you to know that your comments have been forwarded to the appropriate management team and we appreciate your feedback.

We have been working to understand the many important issues that arose from the horrific events in El Paso and Southaven, as well as those that have been raised in the national discussion around gun violence.
We’ve updated our Open Carry Policy to respectfully request that customers no longer carry firearms into our stores or Sam's Clubs in states where “open carry” is permitted – unless they are authorized law enforcement officers.

We often adjust our assortments for business needs and due to recent events, we are making necessary changes. We will continue to serve our customers with an assortment that reflects the wants and needs they come to us for every day.
We will discontinue and sell existing inventory of handgun ammunition.
We will discontinue and sell existing inventory of certain short-barrel rifle ammunition, such as the .223 caliber and 5.56mm that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity magazines on military-style weapons.
We will discontinue and sell existing inventory of handguns in Alaska, which means we will no longer sell handguns in any stores.

Thank you for contacting Walmart where we are always happy to help!

Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, CVS... all come out with the same No Open Carry policy within 24 hours of each other. This is no coincidence as entities this size are incapable of making decisions that quickly. These policies have been in the works for weeks (months, years) just waiting for the right time to rollout. I think they were all waiting for the big gorilla (Walmart) to go first, but they were all ready to follow the big bully.

Today is No Open Carry, but don’t kid yourself, they all have Gun Free Zones as their ultimate goal. Think about how many states where signs have force of law instead of a leave the premises or trespass. We are on a slippery slope. Use your dollars and your emails to express your disgust with these companies policies. They are all whores to the dollar bill and if this recent stunt impacts their bottom line they may think twice about going the next step to full Gun Free Zones.
